What do you think? Crazy or......?
Not crazy to me, as they have Cannonball runs with 1915 and older bikes and I would think they have less hp than a Vespa with a 250.
Sounds like a BLAST to me....Will put this event in my Planner for sure....will spread the word.
nope, Helix have always come in near the top when they ride agaist reg motorcycle in a cannonballs.
Not surprised about the Helix thing.
Pin the thing until it runs out of juice, and would feel like your watching the thing from your favourite couch!
You might find last year's 2010 Scooter Canonball thread on Modern Vespa interesting http://modernvespa.com/forum/topic71615 several of the participants are regular posters there.
Considered it. Did some math regarding fuel, lodging, getting to start and home from finish, and decided against it.
That, and I couldn't find anyone willing to sit in my van for eight days driving slowly across the southern tier of states!
I considered it, but then I realized that it wouldn't be cool riding into town with the guy on a yellow vespa with Hello Kitty on his helmet riding in at around the same time.
I mean last year's Scooter Cannonball had 2 yo-yos dressed up like Evel Knievel with the red white and blue jump suits riding not even 1/4 the speed of what Evel would ride AFTER CRASHING!
I'll stick to riding cool and comfortable, pic'n up chicks every chance I get.
Last year one of the finishers was riding a little Ruckus, a big Ruckus should find it a piece of cake.
Where are those guys from Indiana?
The SYM HD200 won the thing TWICE!
I'm guessing this has to be tongue in cheek.
d00d, you ride a scooter! And you are trying to diss other scooter riders for not being as manly as you.
While all of the bikes in my sig are full size (or nearly- TW200), I didn't buy any of them to be cool or get chicks.
I'll sum up by mentioning what the PO of my Ducati said when I was picking it up. He leaned over to me and whispered "This bike is a great panty dropper" I said, "The minute I need a motorcycle to interact with women is the exact moment I just go straight to paying for them"
It is much cheaper than the Ducati.
A friend of mine is planning on doing it on a 2-stroke Genuine Stella...
I guess I should have mentioned this earlier but I completed the 2012 Scooter Cannonball. I had a twitter feed going here www.evelottosblog.com and I should have some blog entries later this week.
Just as an FYI, the '48 Salsbury scooter that won was sporting a Ninja 250 engine. Seems like a fantastic piece of engineering that was done by Lee B.
The classifications were set up by year of manufacture as evidenced by the VIN, not the engine size. There is likely to be some tweaking to the rules as a result of this years race, like there has in past years.
I heard about this scooter so I went to see for myself.. The short version,,,, 'A REAL PIECE OF WORK' A very well engineered, quality and workmanship was tops.... Builder/rider was a real impressive young fellow,, (anyone is young to me, I am 76)
Lots of really nice people and cool scooters,, I may do the next run.....
If you want to see some pics from the event. Here's what I got.
what's going on here:
who's the pilot? what scoot?
I just missed them. They came within about 60 miles from me, would have taken a trip up on the Zuma if I would have known.
