What the hell is this? I nod off for a few minutes...then BAM! Scooter Forum!
Way to go!
Can I move my favorite Ruckus threads from JM into here?
Please do! Good idea.
Why not move threads from face plant also?
Oh...I've found a few.
Who's ever crashed on a scooter?
Have you ever spent time on any American beach? I had the pleasure of patching kids up (not the dead ones, we tarped them) on beaches all over Hawaii. Scooters generally are underpowered and are often bounced off cars. If going out on two wheels, I highly recommend having more acceleration ability than the cars that are about to kill you.
Well, I mean aside from you.
I wasn't trying to dis the scootertistas. Being on an - ahem - less than overpowering machine presents its own set of problems on the street.
That's got a lot more to do with inexperience than lack of power.
50% of the time i would agree with you. I have however seen enough corpses with cycle designation on their ID.
Pretty sure any MSF instructor in this country would agree. Lack of power, especially when a hyundai can out accelerate you is a safety issue in an already dangerous two wheeled life.
Well...possum on a gum bush!
I can't say I've ridden a scooter...
I can think of more than a few instances where the presence of a cycle endorsement has no correlation with experience on two wheels. Here all it takes is an 80% on a test and a couple of figure eights in a parking lot.
Me too! Lowside.
Well, I damn near went over the bars on your Big Ruckus up in Lima. Those brakes were stronger than I thought they were. That would have been embarrassing in front of a few thousand BMW riders.
Did your years of experience make it safer then?
Say it: "I've ridden a scooter!" There. That didn't hurt, huh?
You're excused, you were drunk at the time.
I teach MSF and I don't think the issue is power, it is experience and judgement. I also used to ride bicycles between 200-300 miles a week all over the Santa Cruz mountains when I raced bicycles..They kinda lack power also; well, at least with me push'n the pedals.
