Can't beat a road that is both curvy and scenic.

Thanks! We are having a good season. It is a delight to hear the Blonde talk about what she wants to do on our days off, instead of talking about work (last year, we both worked more days/hours). She wants to head out with the boat on our next days off, and this morning asked me if I'd like to take a seaplane to Seattle for my birthday.

No doubt about it, having the scoots here, and more time off to enjoy them, is making for a good season (so far).

We are back at work. Yesterday, I scoot-commuted to the other side of the island. No whale reports when we were ready to head out, but we found an active group of transient Orcas in Canadian waters...

It's a rainy start to the day today, so I'll be taking the truck to work. When I drive a boat on this side of the island (scheduled for that Saturday and Sunday), it is a short walk to work.

Friday the 13th today. On a full moon. Anyone who works with the public knows that really does bring out the crazies. I'm hoping the rain will slow that down. We'll see.

The view out the back window of our boat this morning. ^

    Best wishes,

The rain let up by the time I had to go to work. It was predicted to be windy and rainy this afternoon, but the weather weasels missed it again... a particularly nice Friday the 13th...

I think we'll cook in on the boat tonight.

    They're getting pretty close.

Do you have a means of repelling boarders? Water cannon, perhaps?

    A flair gun works. :evil

That conga line yesterday was easy compared to today: 20 boats all trying to get a view of one humpback. We were about the 10th boat to the party, so I had to work in to get the guests a good spot for viewing. It isn't usually like that. BUT, every day is different.

We were planning to take our boat to Victoria (Vancouver Island, BC) on our days off. The boss scheduled a safety training for Tuesday morning, right in the middle of our 3 days off. Bopped around on the scoot today, instead...

    Hey,

Welcome back. Hopefully later in the summer, I'll scoot up from Bellevue.

Didn't know jackasses could drive pickups.

You stated a good philosophical position: Every village needs its idiot. Good on you for not allowing him to alter your day...

They can, and do. I was nearly driven off the road by one last week. He came up behind me really close before passing within 6 feet of me. I was at about 60mph, he was doing about 70 to 75 when he passed. If he meant to scare me...he did a good job. :eek1

When my daughter was about 8, we took her to the Empress Hotel and had High Tea. We were all dressed up (yes, I wore a tie...this IS the Empress Hotel High Tea, after all). Although I wouldn't have guessed it, I actually had a lot of fun because the ladies enjoyed it so much and I enjoyed being with them for it.

Victoria is a very nice place, indeed.
