    Hi Ian...

I visited Scotland in June2010. I was lucky to be there when there was not much rain.
Camping in the wild was fine.. No Problem to find a place for the night. Especially in the north... On the Isle of Lewis are great areas of peat... When it is rainy its not a good idea to camp on this peat...
    ....
You have to visit Sango Sands Camping Site in Durness! This is the most beautiful campingsite I have ever been. Be sure your tent is Storm-safe....:evil
And be sure that the moquitonet of your tent is very fine-meshed. The midges are very small and they will eat you up ;-)

Danke schön... Although the picture gives the impression that there was a lot of rain.. in fact it wasn't... There was just half a night rainy and some days there was a bit of drizzle but most of the days were complete dry.

Nice RR, i live about 15 miles north of the Newcastle ferry terminal, if you are ever back this way feel free to call in (and any other travellers passing)

BTW, Is that a Dortmund reg plate on your GS, used to go to Dortmund/Essen a couple of times a year for work (Limbacker Platz in Essen if i recall )
I love riding in Germany, usually i base myself in Dusseldorf and have a look around, Neanderthal Valley was interesting

Christian, nice pics. If you couldn't open the vid, try this http://www.youtubeunblocker.org/

I did the hardknott pass 25Years ago. With an R80 and my girl friend. And I have to stop two times. In the second gear. Wasn't funny to start again, cause I have to change the gear. When I try, the bike moved downwards. . .

I toured Scotland on my K75s for three weeks in 2010 and it rained every day.I swear I had moss growing on my raingear.Scotland is such a beautiful country I had to do it again in 2011 and fortunately the weather was a little better.

I first did Hardknott Pass in 1962 riding a Triumph T110 with a matching Busmar Astral sidecar containing a very nervous then wife and son hanging on for dear life.It was such a kick I turned around on the other side of the pass and did it over again.Wrynose Pass which you have to go over to reach Hardknott heading west is a hoot too.I have done them many times since then and can't wait to go back and do it all again.

@ inbred: Scotland ist definetly the beautiest and friendliest country I`ver ever been.

@ Caymen8, jimbowie: Thank you very much. Good to hear that someone likes the pictures!

@ Horton: Yes Hordknott Pass is really special. When I saw it the first time I was a bit in a doubt if I should take this narrow path with my fullpacked 1200GS Adventure.

@ Wal2: DO is Dortmund. E is Essen. I was born and raised in Essen and I know "Limbecker Platz" very well.

@ Velocipede: I was very lucky in 2010 with the weather. Almost no rain. So I got in 2011 almost every day rain in Scandinavia. :huh

    @ Moidart: HAHA :lol3

@ OnkelPopanz: Do it :D Scotland is great!
