Note to mods: If this is posted in the wrong place please move it... I guess I may be opening a GIANT can of worms here but I figure I gotta ask anyway. I realize that this will be opinions and nothing more. There may be a different seat for each different rider on the planet cause nobody is built the same but what I hope to gain insight to is price vs. comfort. So first let me ask, is comfort totally linked to price? Or is having a special seat made to fit you gonna cost big bucks? currently I am riding an 18 year old BMW GS and I love the old bike but after a few thousand miles last week I was left feeling kinda old! :eek1 I realize that I am no spring chicken but there were days in the past where a 12 or 14 hour ride wouldn't wear me out, now it does. The bike came with an old Corbin that is great for around town and medium length days but not good for me for long days. I tend to sit forward on the skinny part of the seat so I don't "reach" too far for the controls. I think this may be part of the issue but there are already risers that bring the bars up and back to me some. The bike did come with another seat that I no longer have because it seemed to make me sit way too high. It was a Russell Day Long seat and was built for the PO who was a much bigger guy than I am. The seat was really cushy but I don't think it worked for me. Maybe I needed to get the Russell guys to build it for me but that wasn't in the cards at the time money wise. SO...what should I do? I have a bit of cash but I'm not rich, can I get someone to make me something that will help or should I just stay with what I have and realize I'm getting old? What will it cost? Thanks for any input!
