I sent an email to my Rep. and send a direct comment to the forest service office.

Here in VA the impact on will be significant, especially for some of the most popular riding areas near Harrisonburg.

Got it done, though ultimately it will likely do little good as the ubiquitous flood of green liberalism takes hold in Washgington.

Oh well, I reckon the woods will only be less crowded as folks fall in line.

I sent my Rep a letter today. Both Alabama Senators voted against it. We need to get many letters and emails out. Contact all your friends.

    Done. Thanks.

Here's my (poorly-written) verbiage if you want to copy. Make sure in the subject line you get to the point: HB22: please vote NO

Please vote NO on House Bill 22. I use and enjoy access to forest service land (hiking and motorcycling) that would be closed by House Bill 22.

I respect the land, and the intent behind the bill, but there's an alarming amount of land that would no longer be available to me if this bill passes.

This is an important issue for me--I'd like to be able to share these activities with friends and family and strongly urge you to vote no.

Sent a vote NO message to R P. McHenry.

Emailed a notice with a link to everyone I know that mountain bikes because we'll lose those trails too. If anyone is into hunting or horseback riding and knows a group to contact I'd let them know as it will effect them also.

Remember - we're fighting groups like the Sierra Club who want to see it passed.

Both the AMA and the Blue Ribbon Coalition have reached out to members of Congress over the last couple of days. That's membership $ at work.

I got this email back from my congressman.

    Dear Mr. ***:

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the National Landscape Conservation System and your concern about its impact on public recreational access. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this issue. I value your views on the important issues facing our Commonwealth and the Nation.

As you may know, S. 22, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, would establish within the Bureau of Land Management the National Landscape Conservation System to conserve, protect, and restore nationally significant landscapes that have outstanding cultural, ecological, and scientific values.

Currently, this bill has not been considered by the House of Representatives. As a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, please rest assured that I will keep your views in mind as this bill continues through the legislative process.

Thank you again for sharing your views and opinions with me. I am committed to serving you to the best of my abilities. If I can ever be of assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to call me at (202) 225-4261 or contact me online at: www.wittman.house.gov.

    Sincerely,

    Robert J. Wittman
    Member of Congress

Nothing like having taxes taken out of your paycheck to pay for public land and then denying access to responsible people. Somtimes it feels like the weight of the political and legal system comes down hard on responsible folks more so than the irresponsible.
Thanks goes out to Tripper for posting this up. I never would have seen it...I visit this forum much more often than others.
