I just spotted this on the Traction erag Facebook page.....

    https://ontariooffroadcharity.ca/pages/event

Not a lot of info on the page, but it looks interesting. I would suspect a single route that won't be very technical if SUV's and trucks are traversing it too. Could be a nice Fall ride on a beast. Head up to Pembroke for Friday night, then down the route to Peterborough on Sat.

In case anyone was curious about the event, I attended the ride today. The ride up to Pembroke from Toronto on Friday was pretty crappy.... temps in the low teens and 5 hours in the rain. Today's weather made up for it. A bit chilly to start, but sunny.

Being the first year for this, the attendance was low, but really nice folks. There were 6 of us on bikes, which dropped to 4 when one wouldn't start and he and his riding buddy went to his garage a few mins away. I may have been the only one who wasn't in the Canadian Forces. There were about 10 4x4's too.

I had to get back to Toronto earlier than I had previously planned, so I didn't ride all the tracks, but the morning session was on some really nice , flowing , hilly 2-track with rocks, sand , water, gravel. Certainly required concentration to be kept up so you didn't ding a decent sized rock or two. We were motoring along at a decent pace. Had to bushwhack around one deeper water hole , which is a chore on a beast, but it got there.

It would have been a blast on the 525EXC, but I wasn't about to ride it up there for 5 hours, and didn't have the option of trailering it with someone to ferry the car home again.

I'd certainly go back again if they hold it next year.

thanks for the feedback, the website really lacked details, so I subscribed to the thread to see what happened. I'm glad to hear that it went well.

Hey trials guy. I was the dude on the other twin. Thought I'd give a more detailed update about the rest of the ride. I agree, some details were lacking on the website, but I'm sure more detail will be added in years to come. I am new to these types of rides and trials guy may have figured out. He only helped pick my bike up once but it may have happened one or two more times during the day. Haha.
Over all I would rate the day 9 out of 10. The riding was amazing. Challenging and rewarding as we rode almost a full 9 hours. Parts were difficult but very doable. Most of it was pretty easy. Lots of double track (somewhat rocky) so you had to be careful, especially on the big bike. Some jeep trail and some open highway. The last 30 or so km were defiantly the most challenging. Look up concession lake jeep trail and you'll get good idea of the terrain. Giant mud holes with big rock obstacles immediately after. We finished right after dark around 8 pm and I was happy to be out of there. The trucks didn't make it out until sometime around 11, With no major brake downs. They were also happy to be out of there, haha.
Over all the day was awesome and I hope to see more bike out next year. I believe Vince will be making an entirely new route so stay tuned for more detail on that.
