    A.K.A a DR's day out

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
The day started with the promise of sunshine and the possibility of a few showers. A definite change to what we've experienced here is SEQ in the last few months.
    <o:p></o:p>
Raycam (“Sir Ray” as he is know amongst us mere mortals) met me at the top of my street at 6am and we headed to the start point a Kilcoy. We took the Freeway North to Caboolture and then some back roads towards Beerburrum where we hit the dirt for the first time and a nice run through to Woodford.
    <o:p></o:p>
We arrived at the Kilcoy BP around 7.30, topped up and found ourselves a place across the road by the pool and waited for the rest of the crew to arrive.
    <o:p></o:p>
Sir Ray on his trusty steed…
    <o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>
As the bikes arrived we started to notice a common theme…. DR after DR after DR…. Ray was feeling a little left out until Anja arrived on her KLR. But then more and more DR’s showed up….
    <o:p></o:p>
The final tally…. I think we started with 17 or 18 bikes and picked up one stray on the way
    DR too many to count
    Vee Strom 1
    Honda 1
    Kawasaki 2
    Yamaha 1
    KTM 2.1/2…. Sorry Strummer.
    <o:p></o:p>
It was a good mix of new to bikes, new to dirt and new to the group.
    <o:p></o:p>
Everyone was keen….most of the crew were there and ready to roll by 7.45.

We hit the road a little after 8.30 and headed North towards Monsildale Rd. Its one of the nicest pieces of dirt road around. Great for a beginners ride. We stopped at the first creek crossing just to make sure everyone was comfortable with water. It wasn’t deep but it was still water.
    <o:p></o:p>
A bit further down the road is the infamous slippery crossing. A bit of slime on the cement under the water has claimed its fair share of victims over time. There were a couple of dinner plate moments, but we all got through unscathed.

Even the locals like to hang around to see any carnage. Sorry guys, not today….

After getting to the end of Monsildale Rd, we picked up our stray Honda rider, (ASLocks) we had a good rest and worked up the courage to move on to the aptly named Mt Buggery.
    <o:p></o:p>
Another nice sweeping road through forest, open paddocks and the deer farm. Oh and there are a couple of hills and some rocky creek crossings in there too…. I hear there were a few more dinner plate moments along the road as well. Especially on the hills... They tend to creep up on the unsuspecting. :evil All good, as long as it wasn’t raining.

    <o:p></o:p>
David60 tried out the limits of his trailwings and unfortunately, he found them and left them way behind. Sorry to hear about you injury and about you having to miss your night at the theatre and staying in the big smoke. I know you were so looking forward to it. At least SWMBO left the beer close and handy for you as she left…
I hope its not too bad and a bit of ice sorts you out soon. :1drink
    <o:p></o:p>
The first of the rocky creek crossings had some moments but everyone got through almost dry…

I'd be safe to say... there's a DR in there somewhere... :D

A “couple of km” down the road is another creek crossing very similar to this one… this provided “the moment of the day”.

    <o:p></o:p>
The videos will tell the story better than I can. Lets just say… Anjas bike wash is now open for business…. :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 :lol3

    <o:p></o:p>
This has to go down as a Snail Trails Classic…. I’m sure an entry in “Funniest Home Videos” will follow soon.

    <o:p></o:p>
We arrived in Imbil for lunch at 12 as planned. We sat and waited for the other group to arrive as we knew they were following the same route into Imbil as we did. Last thing we wanted to do was meet them “Head on” on Mt Buggery.
They arrived around 1pm and after a quick catch up we headed back towards Kilcoy with a few less numbers.
    <o:p></o:p>

As everyone was well fed and confidence was up, the trip back across the mount was a bit quicker than in the morning. No real incidents in the creeks just a couple of close calls. Queue the PJ video….
    <o:p></o:p>

As confidence was up, we decided to alter the route on the way back. It was agreed we do a bit of rougher terrain than we had already done during the day. Instead of heading back down Monsildale Rd we took the tar through to a bit south of Jimna and then took Bellthorpe Rd into the forest. Again, a nice sweeping fire trail, although its getting a little overgrown in spots. This led to the top of 10 Mile Road. We headed down 10 mile, which has a few rocks, a few water ruts, a few puddles and a few woops just for entertainment.

    <o:p></o:p>
This led us to one of my favourite “Happy places” for a rest.
Just a nice spot on the top of a hill which overlooks Kilcoy, Somerset and Wivenhoe dams off in the distance.
    <o:p></o:p>

A great way to end the ride.
    <o:p></o:p>
A run down the tar to Kilcoy, some fuel and a quick catch up before everyone headed off towards their respective homes.

    <o:p></o:p>
A big thanks to Rumble and TK for hanging out at the back of the pack to make sure everyone was safe and sound.

    <o:p></o:p>
Also great to see so many new and old faces out again and also good to see the huge improvements in some of the regulars. Well done to Nazza, Anja and Pam. You all did an amazing job.

    <o:p></o:p>
A great day out and thanks to everyone who supported the ST ride. These rides are for you.
    <o:p></o:p>

Best of all… great to see big smiles on everyone’s faces at the end of the day.
    <o:p></o:p>

So who’s putting the next one together????...

    Here's my addition.

Man, so much good stuff, it was really hard to fit it onto one youtube vid. However, here are some of the highlights.

Naz conquering Mount BUGGER-ME was great to see.
Some shit-funny creek crossing moments (PJ), and then Nazza's bike gets a good dousing from the fire hose and Naz says
'Hey Rumble, you wanna dry my sheepskin cover for me?' :rofl:rofl:rofl

Classic Snail Trails fun on a fabulous ride!

Watch it in HD if you are able.

Maybe we should name that Buggery Crossing... If you don't respect it, it will .... we you know the rest....

That crossing had brought many a rider unstuck.... See the photo of Strummer. He just touched it and the whole thing went sideways. He was lucky to get out dry.....

We were heading to Inskip but only got about halfway up Cooloolah Way and came across a big bog hole that was to deep for us so booked a site at Harry's.

    Cheers.

ps. you'd get through on a bike ok.
