I made it to camp Friday @ 1600, Catfish got us a great spot under a big oak tree. I unloaded the bike, tied Max and geared up to go for a solo ride up the creek and into the gulch. I thought I might see theGrinch & Catfish coming down the mountain....

Holy Shit Mike! Another weekend that I'm out of town.
Well at least I'll be partying it up with the big wigs from Berkshire Hathaway at the K-Derby.

Ah yes, the Glenfiddich, is good medicine!
Yep Millionaire and Billionaire nerds. Warren Buffett (chairman of the Board for Berkshire) and I will be toasting with the finest Kentucky Bourbons in the Corporate Suite overlooking the winners circle.
Anyone who wants me to post a bet for them, just stick cash in an envelope and send it to me............
We went up that way, but returned on ss road after much exploring, trail maintenance, and visiting.
The east-side Piutes ST was new-to-me and a lot of fun! The Grinch had on his brand-spankin' NEW KTMwear and was STYLIN'!
He waited for me above a minor squid filter on the climb up. He squatted near his bike & watched. Said there was an easy way to the left. I looked that way, but it was not obvious from my viewpoint.
The sf didn't look too bad so I climbed it. About half way up, the Grinch's eyes get BIG when he realizes I'm about to park Ms.Beta where he is squatting! For a Grinch, he moves pretty quickly!
We has a GREAT day in the Piutes! Can't wait to get back up there & do some more exploring!
Hey Rob, that scotch was good stuff. You should send one of those EVERY time you don't show up!!!
And if Scott would have shown up with his guitar, we could have had !!!
Here's the missing bottle of vodka that was lurking in my ice chest with the tonic water & limes!
Yes, Saturday should be soon ...
Nice photos Perry!
After the long ridge climb in the warm sun, we finally got some shade & a little chocolate cake!
Peter, Perry, Ben, & Jeff enjoy a break in the shade.
Jeff & The Grinch!
The gang heading further up & north, and still no snow yet!
Some singletrack in the area required a little trail maintenance before we could proceed.
Later we hit deep snow on a nice singletrack, & back-tracked to the road.
Then the road climbed into the snow also. Many snow banks were skied and/or abused until we finally gave up and turned around; and then did all the same snow banks on the way down.
After 2 Saturdays of MANY snow banks, my snow techniques were slowly getting better. When we finally got back to the long bank in the photos above, I fought the Grinch stuck about 1/3 the way across. I noticed that no one had made a fresh track to the right (left side in photos above).
So up into 2nd gear & about 1/3 throttle when I hit the snow! :eek1 I passed the Grinch before I started losing a little momentum, so I twisted the throttle further (BRRRAAAAAAAAAAP!) & started dog paddling to keep my speed up!
HOLYFUCKINGSHITBATMAN, I CLEARED THE WHOLE SNOW BANK WITHOUT STOPPING!!!
A Manzanita Tunnel!
Sequoia NF Heaven!
Got back to camp, ran some mtnbike folks out of our camp (who parked & pitched tents less than 10 ft from our fire pit ), and finally had another GREAT evening of quality libations & friends!
Rob, so you're going to the KD huh?
Cool, spot a bet for me, say 100K, on your favorite horse, I'll split the winnings with ya!
