@Off the grid it ain't called "Return of the Savage" for nothing. If I don't get to meet the king of the savages in person, you're getting downgraded to duke of savages.

Fuckkkk... Cage is not looking highwayable as of last night due to dead front hydraulic suspension. Parts are 2 weeks away. Maybe I'll chance my 20yo untested DR650.

You don't need no steenkin' suspension - just drive it in as a low rider.

Lol, it's not THAT kind of lowrider. Land Cruiser with the goofy hydraulic "Automatic Height Control" system. D/S front is sitting in the wheelwell, P/S is normal. Gah.

@Calibre 20 year old bikes Rock . I’ll be on a 25 year old bike ( if it makes it )

Was planning on arriving there Wednesday late afternoon but after looking at maps I am thinking Thursday late afternoon ( but before Happy Hour and dinner ) . Going to try and do the Beartooth and maybe a bit of Yellowstone on the way there as well as the way back .

Maybe I’ll meet another rider on the way to Corvallis along the road ( what are the odds?)

You crazy fucker. Time for something from this millennium!
I pulled my DR out last night to give it a spin, but no start. Battery charging overnight. I have no bike-sized camping gear though, so I'm probably going to just steal my wife's car. My truck's front end has settled at front tire tops exactly even with the fender lip, about 3" down from normal. Parts are on order from the local land cruiser shop to gut the whole damn mess and convert to regular suspension in a couple of weeks. Buh bye $2k.

Mine turned 30 years old in March. Was the oldest bike there last year. Probably will be the oldest this year too.

If you didn’t treat the fuel, you might have to clean the pilot jet. It might start but not run unless the choke is on, that’s a plugged pilot. :nod

Yessir, I'm a member. I'm not going to try it myself though. I have to work outside and I'm a 2-banana mechanic on the best day. It took me a full weekend to swap DR motors. I believe that's actually a 2-3 hour job, lol. I'd like to take a bike, but I'm gonna wimp out and cage it. The DR has stranded me twice. I've got a 600 mile drive to do in one day, so I don't have time to be waylaid with a breakdown. Post-early-retirement in a couple years, I'll have all the time in the world for extra days on the road, and ironically either a new AT or the much anticipated T700. :clap This summer I'm at a new job, working until Tuesday, leaving at 0530 Wednesday for Shady III, and back home Sunday night around midnight.

Heading north and away from the heat. Day 1 of 4 in the bag, now just waiting for the other two reprobates to arrive.

Have I said how great the riding is on the Texas Panhandle?

    No, I didn't think so.
