I postred a thread over in trip planning trying to gain information about shipping a bike to or from Alaska. A fella there, recommended that I post here.

We are planning a trip and due to time, might ship the bikes up or back from Alaska. Anyone have any info they can share about this? We have about three weeks to ride and think we would enjoy the time more if we only rode one direction in the three weeks.

We would like to ship four bikes and can crate them up and deliver them where ever we need to in the lower 48.

    Thanks,
    Huero

We are shipping to SLC, UT in early May and American Fast Freight came up with the best price we found at just under $500 door to door. We picked up factory crates from The Motorcycle Shop here in Anchorage and will be crating them in AFF's parking lot.

If you want two crates, we will hit SLC May 22nd and the crates will be up for grabs. It would be a shame to just toss them if someone else is ready to ship...

The world would be a better place if we had a sticky thread that answered the reoccurring questions that get asked here, such as this one. Call it a FAQ thread that can address topics like shipping, tire selection/availability, route selection and the life story of ALCAN Rider and his immense squeeze Maggie. I imagine there are other topics that would fit.

Thanks for all the info Fellas.
It is appreciated. So far, it looks like American Fast Freight is the cheapest. (Thanks AKmud)

We are not leaving until summer of 2011. So I wont need those crates. But, I bet that will wrk out for someone. If you need any assistance with that or anything else, Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Huero

I paid around $1300.00 to ship my bike from Florida to Alaska. R & L shipped it to Washington and handed it to American Fast Freight . I do have a create if you need.
