2004 Black, Burgman 650 with 24,000 miles..New tires, Givi screen, ,oem backrest, runs and rides fine..Has some scratches from use not crash..

Dealer will trade me 08 Ninja 250 w/1200 miles that I own and $1,050 out the door difference..

retail the Ninja is worth $2800 and the Burg is worth around $4000 I figure, with the mileage and condition.

It does not have the diesel rattle..

They have installed a new clutch, belt and sensor, because they robbed these part off of it awhile back to fix another unit, because the parts were on backorder..This is a plus IMO..

The ex owner was 68 yrs old and has had it serviced at the dealer for valves ,etc in the past..

This one is the older unit with the concave plate on the trans, early 04 late 03 production model.

I have not signed the papers yet..I have till Monday to back out if I wish..

He has a Silver 05 with 11,200 miles on it
but he wants another $1100 difference for it, meaning my Ninja and $2200 otd...would the 05 be worth the extra $1150 without the new tires, Givi screen and Oem back rest?

I personally cannot see the reason to pay the extra amount..The black I like and the minor scratches mean nothing to me , except that I can strap stuff to it and not worry about it..It is used..

    What ya think?

Can't say as I know the value of the trade in, but I decided I wanted the over drive feature for a tetch better mpg, so held out for a 2k5 or better, eventually getting lucky on a private sale of a 2k6 which I've been beating on since.
The main difference was that I had cash, not a trade in so it was pretty easy to just go private party.

Nothing horrible about the 4's that I'm aware of. Lot's of folks with lots of miles on 'em :D

sounds like a decent enough deal to me.

the only drawback to me is the weight issue. your ninja tips the scales at ~375 pounds and the burgman is close to 600 pounds - a pretty big difference.

i have a gimpy left leg so weight is a biggie for me. i just went from a sportcity 250 at about 325 up to a majesty 400 that weighs in at about 500. it's taken me some time to get used to it.

other than that, bergmans are very good scoots and i don't think the 24K on its clock is all that big a deal. friend of mine has a 650 with that kind of mileage on it and it's just as strong today as when he got it. i think it's an 04 also. another couple of guys i know have the burgman 400 and have never had a problem with them.

    I'd find a S'Wing instead.

IMHO, less complicated & less maintenance intensive.
Gets the same job done, more or less.

The Silverwing hasn't had an update since introduction.

He has a 03 with ABS (Silver wing) I rode it back to back with the Burg and there was no comparision..The Burg rocks hands down..I was suprised, because he had originally called me about the Silver Wing, I was all geared up to buy it till I rode the Burgman..

It is the Burgman for me..Just do not know if it should be this one.

Sounds like a decent deal. The '05 and newer Burgmans have overdrive which is considered a big plus.

Lloyd, is that you ?(buying a scooter). Mark here, from Boston. Zarex on the ZRX site.We met at Ark. rally. I currently own a Versys. I have always owned a scooter for commuting to work and (I'll admit) sometimes for pleasure. My one at present is a Majesty 400. Don't under estimate the blast you can have on these things. I miss my Rex.

I am really looking forward to this 2 wheeled utility vehicle..Should make for a fun summer..

I'm giving the big power a rest for now. Sold the Rex, bought a ZZR1200, outran a state trooper on mountain roads, sold the Big Z. 60hp Versys nice and comfy. I talk to John H every now and then. I'm looking for a ride or rally his spring. Keep me in mind. As for that big scoot, you may change motorcycles but there always seem to be a reason to keep a scoot around. Kinda like that worn out screw driver you keep in the kitchen draw. They're just so easy to drive and once you get used to them, don't under estimate their sporty side. Oh, congratulations on your new ride. You started on top. Easily tour the country on the 650.
