I have a RAM flat mounting plate that I cut down to size and stuck some "male" velcro on it. On the Creative Zen and other devices, I put on "female" velcro. It is cheap, simple and holds the Zen very firmly. I rewired a Powerlet USB adapter to run through a fuse panel.

Not normally a fan of clutter on the bike, like the simplistic approach. But after my latest trip away and having to back track to find fuel decided to mount up the car gps that had been sitting unused in the draw for the last 12 months. Got a cheapo mount and wiring kit from China (where else) and wired her up. Not much good off the main roads as the maps dont show most of the local "roads" (tracks) but should at least point me at the local servo

This is my Garmin Nuvi500 on my Tiger800. The Nuvi is on it's third bike and still works flawlessly...no bluetooth, though.

This is my Garmin zumo 350LM freshly mounted on a Malaguti Spidermax GT500 maxi scooter.

The mount is the standard Ram Mount system which came in the box with Zumo. I've drilled an opening in the plastic under the windsheld from which the 1" Ram mount ball protrudes.

The mount is powered - I've connected it to the ignition so that when I turn on the bike it powers itself, and when I cut the ignition the zumo automatically goes to its shut off delay sequence. Also, I've fitted a separate fuse for the zumo which is easily accessible from underside of the front fairing - the fuse is in a rubber, waterproof marine case.

Believe it or not, this was a hard photo to take. The light kept washing out the Garmin's screen. I'm not sure why this one worked so well!

Did you connect the wires at the switch? With solder?

Im really surprised not to see anyone using an ipad or similar for navigation. Once you use it there is absolutely nothing better. You have to precache maps though...

Actually, the wires coming out of zumo's RAM mount are not connected directly to the ignition. They are connected between the ignition and the main fuse box, that being the easiest place to do it without removing too much of the fairing in the process.

I've cut the wires at that point, spliced them with insulated terminals (*) and made a separate fuse just for the zumo as mentioned previously. I could've soldered them, but then I'd run the risk of engine+ambient heat unsoldering them (it's a longshot I know, but I am playing it as safe as I can.)

Wish I could attach some photos of the install, but alas it didn't occur to me to take any since it was a fairly straightforward job.

(*) not sure if this is the correct name - I am neither English/American, nor am I a professional electrician :)
