I cruise in long stretches quite awhile and don't notice the rev needle dance around. While the box is definitely clunkier than my previous supersport, the machine overall is very smooth when cruising.
I have a 2017 1200 gsa so I'm not sure the differences between yours and mine:

    This thread... http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/alternate-spark-plug-for-liquid-cooled-gsw.1109811/

The revs do not fluctuate that much really, but it's clearly visible on the needle, which is already too much. I believe there are some changes between 2014 and 2016GS so yours might be improved.

If there's a so far undetected problem with the bike, I guess it can only be the spark plugs or the valve clearances (@34000 KM). AFAIK neither can have such an effect. Anyway, I'll stop hijacking this thread - perhaps I can upload a video later.

Funny that AdvRider is the only trustworthy source to consult (Including the dealers...), I'm very happy to be here.

My 2016 Triple Black GS that I bought on Oct 29, 2016. Purchase made following a 9-day trip in Sept 2016 to the Alps renting/riding the exact model, color, etc in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Northern Italy. Fell in love with the bike during the 1650 km European adventure so made the purchase one month after returning from Europe. Mounted LED auxiliary lights with Lamin-x amber/yellow lens covers using a Denali light bar. (Lights powered by DRL module connected direct to battery.) MachineartMoto X-Head valve cover protectors. Passport radar detector and iPhone 6 Plus both handlebar mounted and connected via Bluetooth to Sena SMH-10R communication system. Nelson Rigg tank and tail bags.

Don't know about any of this, I went from a F800GS to a '14 GSA because it was more "refined" in every way. Smooth, settled, tach needle is very smooth, and steady cruise. Well, the shifter maybe not quite as smooth as the 800 but good.
After 26,000 miles for some reason I traded for a '17 GSA and can't feel any difference except for the shift assist and that isn't much different than the non shift assist except for down shifting.

Both the 800 and the boxer engines are some noisy but ear plugs fixed that on both bikes :augie

Not quite new. Bought it in August, now with just under 6000 miles.

It actually is no longer my new bike. My 2015 GSA. First picture is the current look. (I tried my hand at wrapping)
And the other 2 are how it looked before. the cases were treated with plastidip in gun grey (and the lids and topcase) in silver.

Next week I'll say goodbye to this bike with a little over 46k km on the clock and get my new triple black. IMG_3770.JPG IMG_3771.JPG IMG_3772.JPG

That's the plan! I am hoping to do the New Mexico BDR this summer as well as some local club riding challenges.

My 14 was well equipped with GPS prep, ESA, vario bags, Scorpion muffler, engine gaurds, smoked V-stream windshield, large rubber rider pegs, brake pedal riser, and machineart front fender extension. I`m glad the original owner, put these pieces on. I had never rode an adventure bike, till this one.I came off of an 05 Yamaha FJR 1300. I have loged 5000+ miles since sept. just to work and back. I love this Machine, the motor is a monster in dynamic mode.

At the dealer, waiting for a smaller handlebar switch before delivery:1drink I guess it will arrive home on a trailer due to salty roads and still light snow on the ground.

Beauty! Just make the rear rack and the crash bars the same color as the frame, and it would look completely awesome!

Definitely! The more the merrier. I would be riding with the GF on the back so it may be slow progress. We would be riding late may early June time.

What are you going to do when the 1290SAR gets here?? I'm eying that bike closely. Got the itch after riding a couple 1190's R/S types.
