Good choice, that should look good in the Pacific Northwest.
I hope when they do the GSA they make use of some of the colours they use on the 800GS. It gets way better colours.
No video I'm afraid but I had a test ride today. Pouring down with rain and quite a few diesel spills to contend with. I travelled through a 1 mile tunnel in Liverpool and can report that the automatic day light works as described
What did I think of the bike? Well, I gave the dealer my 2012 R1200GS in early January. In return he has loaned me a few bikes because I could not be without for 2 to 3 months. I have mainly been riding an F800ST and for a tall person like me, rather cramped. I expected the GS to feel rather strange initially - it did, but not for long. Considering the weather was bad, I was delighted with my ride. The bike is quick (even in rain mode) and also quick to steer. With ESA it is a little taller than the previous GS with ESA, the seat is a lot more comfortable to the point where I am wondering if I need the high seat I have ordered? But then, you can't have too much leg room for touring and this bike is going to be one brilliant touring bike. Quite quiet as RichBMW has already pointed out but undecided about an Akrapovic at the moment.
So, what did I not like? Funny indicator switch but soon got used to it. Trying hard now for the next big issue . . .
. . . ah, yes - giving the bike back
AND ALSO, TODAY, I was told my bike has been shipped from Germany and is on its way at last
It's an awesome bike, isn't it My negatives are the indicator switch, and the small digits on the speedo. But I've set up the current speed on the CP, so that's that problem sorted. I'll not use the indicators, then the bike is perfect
Yes the digital readout of speed is good - set that myself when I was riding (only because I had looked in the riders manual PDF earlier, haha). Very handy for when you are in speed limits. An awesome bike it is, even after less than 3 hours riding. As others have said, go and test ride one and you won't be disappointed.
Can you or Rich take a picture of the digital speed readout? I haven't seen it.
I'm guessing you don't want him taking pictures of the speedometer while he's driving. The other LC GS thread has links to the owners manual, lots of pictures there.
I've seen the manual but didn't see any pictures of the digital speed readout....perhaps you can point me to the page?
Well, the tyre pressure monitor works OK. I rode the bike up and down the lane tonight after washing yesterdays salt off and got a red master warning light and the RDC was flashing telling me I'd dumped 1 bar of pressure from the back wheel.
Looks like I'll need a new tyre and there probably isn't any in the country yet.
Exactly the same thing happened to me 2 years ago on my K16 on exactly the same road I was on yesterday. That turned out to be 2 inches of welding rod through the back tyre, not spotted the problem on the GS yet.
Doh doh doh
Bummer ! The demo bike at Southport Superbikes had a screw in the rear Tourance Next last Saturday, replaced this week. If you are stuck sourcing a tyre, you might try phoning them to see where they got theirs - speak to Steve on the parts/service desk.
Nice, thanks Paul, I'll ring my dealers tomorrow and see what they say. I've blown it back up and my pump's gauge confirmed the pressure on the RDC read out.
At least the air leak is slow enough I can ride the bike to the dealers, once I've had a good look at the tyre in daylight and checked it's safe.
The weather was looking ok for tomorrow, I was going to take a run out to Matlock
I can also highly recommend speaking to Jim Carrie at Williams BMW Manchester. He is service manager there, a really helpful guy - if he can, he will

Best of luck
Ironically that's where I ended up taking the K16 when this happened as they were the only ones with tyres, which again were new and specific to the K16. That was on the back of a van, at least this time I can still ride the GS.
My dealer, New Century BMW, told me that they are scheduled to get them next week as well. They didn't sound 100% sure that BMW NA would actually deliver, but that is the schedule!
I'm looking forward to checking them out, but I'm not giving up my HP2E for one!
Great banter guys, but this is the show us your liquid cooled GS thread, not the general chat thread
Well if the hole is small enough, just patch it.
Many people don't accept this as long term solution, but I've done thousands of km on patched tires (NOT multi-patched and NOT patched where they shouldn't).
The new R1200gs (W) is in New Jersey,Rochelle Park. There is White and Red and a Red Demo for testing.
oops, quite right
Great looking bike
