Cheney Lake, Kansas. Hard to believe it is February!
Good photos! What bike is that?
Something I built a while back. Old street bike frame,YZ250 suspension/rolling gear, and a hotted up Blaster atv engine.
I camped at Cheney Lake when I was doing my post-Navy celebration long motorcycle trip. Big thunderstorms around that night. Thanks for the memory!
are there even guards manning the guard houses this time of year? would be nice to ride out there or over at El Dorado lake if you didnt have to pay just get in.
No guards in the shack this time of year,I just ride through. Always a nice little destination.

Those Australian plans are pretty expansive!
A shot from the sand breaks along the Kansas Nebraska boarder
Looks like the perfect area to enjoy the AT. Where exactly are the sand breaks anyway? Possibly around the Republican river area? Looks like a beautifully desolate area to just get away and treasure some solitude.
This is where the final scene of the movie Castaway was shot.
You are correct as it is around the Republican river valley. The Breaks or also known as the Arikaree Breaks are located in the northwest corner of Kansas, south west corner of Nebraska, and the north east corner (or close to the corner ) of Colorado. The AT works great here as I think there are more unpaved roads than paved roads
Here is a shot from the 3 corner area
I grew up about 5 miles south of where they filmed those scenes in Castaway.
