So, they delivered my new 800XC with a total of 2 miles on the ODO. Took it out for the inaugural shakedown ride and quickly noticed that the digital fuel guage wasn't working. Called the dealer. They told me to put at least 40 miles on it and see if that fixes the problem. I did. It didn't. Back to the shop it went. They had it for a week (two days to diagnose/fix). They're blaming the fuel tank vendor. Apparently the "sensor" contacts weren't installed correctly. Other than that, it's been a blast. Spent years MTB racing and enduro off-road, but very little two-wheel time on the street. Apparently the bike is pretty good off-road too:D. I think it's gonna be a little while before I hit the dirt though. Feels like I'm driving a Mack truck compared to my KX250 :rofl

Some companies categorize the 800 as a "sport bike". Hell, Progressive classifies the WR250R as a sport bike and charges a fortune to insure them. GEICO charges me $350 a year for my 800XC, $100 more than my Harley and $200 more than my KTM 500 EXC (if ever a dirt bike would be mistaken for a sport bike...). I switched to GEICO when Progressive wanted to charge me nearly $1500 a year to insure a Triumph Speed Four. Dropped them on the spot when they gave me that quote.

That happened to me exactly when I was looking to insure it. My mistake, I called it a dual sport...so Allstate just heard sport. With progressive I called it an adventure bike and and all was good & cheap! These companies have no idea.

Thinking of getting a set of the after-market lights...How do you like yours? They are not LED are they? Any comments on their performance?
    thank you!

Those look like standard triumph auxiliary lights to me.

Thanks. I've missed them tremendously. It just hasn't been the same bike without 'em.

Now that 'touring season' is just about over, I'm really looking forward to putting them back on and wrapping up the season with them locally.
