you're referring to the girls in the video I hope!!!..you studly Blokes
Thanks for the Videos,
like has been said before you inspired many of us to go out and be Adventure Riders , on a somewhat smaller scale so.
Given how the relationship of the countries has changed , do you think it would be possible to do this trip nowadays?
In case you are thinking about Russia, may I suggest you read this recent ride report:
Putin,Kim Jong-un,& Genghis Khan Walk into a Biker Bar.. 1Day2Day European Marathon 2017 Run begins.
If you are thinking about the crossing Ukraine/Russia, it could still be done if you cross above the Donbass like them in 2012:
Hijacked by some locals... dragged into an evening of drinking & dancing . Now I understand what is meant by "The Toughest Ride of the All". You guys really had to endure some difficult "obstacles".
Fantastic video documentary Walter. Thanks for all the work.
Yes. I provide the trail to a select number of riders each year. Some examples ... In 2014 the trail was ridden by Lyndon (Dakar racer) Poskitt and Lukas M (tho they skipped the Ukraine and the Urals in favour of Tajikistan). In 2015 it was ridden by a Belgian team. In 2016, by the Motomavericks (all those ride reports are on here I believe). In 2017 Chris Hamer (Hamering it to Magadan) was riding the Tajikistan version of the trail that Lyndon and Lukas rode in 2014. So yes the trail is being ridden every year. It is still totally doable. It is still "live" and gets adjusted and refined and updated each year to take into account any changes identified by the current years riders!
Episode 9 ... the last part of Stage 1 (of 3) of the Sibirsky Extreme trail. Cruising in to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on the trail. It is almost impossible to ignore some reference to Borat when riding across Kazakhstan. So this is the final section into Astana put to Borats fake Kazakh anthem
Walter, I have been a member for years, but watching but never posting. Thank you for what you do for the adv community.
If someone is commenting to rude assholes on your YT page it's probably me.
Just hearing that Episode 9 might not play on mobile phones. I suspect the copyright holders of Steve Miller Band music want it played only on PCs where the ads are more effective (they get the revenue from the ads).
Might have to sadly not use more Steve Miller Band in future as it comes with these restrictions that I wasnt aware of till it went live.
Of course the phone restriction applies to many android based tablets as well. Ones such as mine! DAMN!!
It's ok though...it works fine on my iphone!
I just watched Episode 9 on my phone.
Mirrored it to the tv and it worked great.
No problems watching for me either. on a Mac.
Probably a regional block.
That doesn't account for why it works on my iphone but not my galaxy tablet. Both are accessing the internet through my home wifi so it can't be a regional block.
Can't ya'll just turn it down or mute the music when it comes on?
Sounds like an easy fix to me..
Thank you Walter both for the inspiration and the entertainment ! I just gotta say that your Russopop video is exactly the sort of thing that can make a happy man feel really old !!
More please !
Well heck, just started reading this trip from the first page for about the 4 or 5 th time. But, I skip all the comments so much easier now.
Just watched episode 1 through 9 with my seven year old boy and we loved every minute.
Great stuff Terry and Mr. Colebatch. Looking well forward to see the rest of the trip!
Thanks for sharing!
Worked on my Android in the states. Nice videos! Thanks so much for posting all of these.
@Colebatch - what is the sound track at the beginning of each video. That tune is growing on me, might download it to my playlist...
