</td> <td align="LEFT" valign="TOP">Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="LEFT">All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

that's odd - there doesn't seem to be any cell phone towers or windmills on top of any of those mountains. I guess all the people that live around there must be rich. NIMBY!

@Rod, so sorry to hear of your sister and pup. :(
I just lost my bro to lung cancer last month and a few years ago my puppy to anal sac cancer.
My heart goes out to you in this difficult time.

    @Walter and company, fantastic report.:clap
Thank you all for sharing your great adventure stories in such beautiful terrain and in good company.
I look forward to the DVD.

Ha...same here. In every pic I'm checking out the rivers for the best line! :lol3
I do that on every RR. Maybe we need to organize an ADV ride(motorcycles) and run(the river) trip to the region.

As everyone else has said, I too check this RR everyday. Thanks again (everyone on the trip) for taking the time to post up!!! :clap
I know it is time consuming.

Rod, good on you for doing the best by your dog. A lot of people keep their pets hanging on long after they should have gone because they don't have the heart to let them go. A vet once told me, "better a week early than a week late"; very true words.

I always smile when remembering my two long gone girls, we had many good times over the years.

Hi Colebatch. Been following your trip report, and have found it to be one of the more inspirational ones I've run across. Thanks for the great story and awesome pics. I have a request, do you have a pic of your bike before you started modding it? Was it much like...

...or one of the more 'roady' looking ones?

    Thanks!

I'm with Beamster. Even when I hike to the source of a fresh mountain spring water, I still treat with iodine tablets. Animals congregate around water sources and animals haven't learned the rule "don't poop where you eat".

Ride on folks! loving the story.

If there are any critters pissing in it, drinking it unfiltered is a good way to get giardia.

Just boil it - actually you don't even need to do that 76.5ºC will do the trick. In some parts of the world no matter the water source this should be done. For example some mountain streams in Canada have "Beaver Fever" which can make you quite sick.

The morning came and showed us slightly more promising weather than we had the previous day.

We continued down the valley towards a junction of valleys that had been my aim:

It was a lovely spot and we shot some video and fixed Beamsters flat tyre

Terry looks at the cigarette lighter plug as if it was a foreign concept.

Before heading back towards Aktash. I am not a big fan of heading back down the same track you came in on, but for this valley I gladly made that exception:

Heading up to the pass, the weather was much better than it had been on the way down, which was much better for the camera:
