I thought of Argos but the OP has some mobility issues and ingress/egress might be tough as you have to climb up over the gunwale and settle down into the hull.
Argos are also insanely expensive. I guy I used to work with retired about two years ago and bought his dream Argo with every conceivable option (it was the 8-wheeled version) and it was just under $30,000 CDN.
I've never been too much of an EV fan but my uncles's Bad Boy impressed the hell out of me. Really good off-road capability, runs for hours and hours on a charge, and best of all it's almost dead silent.
I can enjoy the silent part. I wonder about repair or maintenance costs. What do batteries for such a thing cost, and how long do they last?
Not as long as you would like, and too much.
The full pack is pretty darn expensive - I don't remember the actual cost, but I do know it gave my dad enough sticker shock he decided to milk the worn out ones he has a bit longer. Life depends partly on usage. My dad didn't RTFM and learned after his batteries started to go bad that one should avoid running the charge to "empty" because it shortens overall life. Turns out he ran it empty more than once.
I don't know, but would have to think that they're the same ones they use in golf carts. You ought to be able to google information on that fairly easily. And if it's not exact, at least you'd probably be in the ball park. Maybe?
Guy next door has a Bad Boy . He takes it around to check deer feeders , food plots and such. He says he can go app 25-30 miles on a charge , 8-10 hrs for a full charge , runs 18- 22 mph top speed and the batteries are around $175 per.
I know of a couple guys who have the Bad Boys for hunting.
The early ones were a different story.
They had some bugs I guess.
And they are really damn quiet.
at work we have a 1998 JD gator 6x4 it has 1100 hours on it. Last year had chain and sprockets replaced, and some sort of electrical regulator. it runs well but i think it is lacking power. i enjoy riding it and is easy to enter and drive.
Also last year they got 3 JD 855 diesel gators, with the glass enclosure. they run good but they seem to be kind of cheap. One has had a mirror break off, and every door lock switch has broken off. other than that there have been no major issues but have low hours on them( under 100 hr each).
I think Can am has a regular ATV that is a step through which would be easy to mount and ride.
Jd parts are dealer only i think and not sure of after market availbility.
No suspension, slow, and not that capable offroad. Great for soft swampland, horrible for cross country travel.
Oh and they might sink,
My wife is about your size & age and loves hers, she uses a boat cushion behind her back to reach the controls.
I've used Kubota RTVs (diesel) a bit out in the bush in AK. They are working machines. I've seen one haul 1,200 lb of food + 3 guys (~600 lb) without complaining. But that was on pretty flat ground. The suspension is ok but travel isn't that great. We used to high center them, particularly if we ran over some snow that snowmobiles had packed and then punched the wheels through. Getting them unstuck sucked, they are heavy. We had tracks for them for winter. They go max 25 mph without tracks, more like 15 mph with tracks, but they go anywhere, loaded. One rig hauled a welder generator all over the tundra all winter.
Summary: Work oriented, efficient (seemed like we never put fuel in), slowish, expensive.
My wife wants a Gator. I was going to convince her to go with a Kubota. But now I need to check out the electric Ranger! We only have 75 acres (but hilly), and it sounds like that will do just fine, and one less ICE to take care of. I can deal with batteries.
The only problem I have seen with the diesel Gators are that if you have a cab fitted they are VERY loud inside.
But for work, they are great. Slow, a little rough riding but will get the job done.
Loud as hell in the closed cab tho.
Consider a honda big red, john deere gator, polaris ranger....
Get the middle of the road model, do yourself a favor and don't get the top of the line sport/performance model. You only benefit from those at high speed and it sounds like you will be doing casual driving.
