    Hi All,
A quick bit of help if you dont mind.....

I have just finished up converting my 950 adv 2004 to S spec's plus, and im working on my stands, problem is, is that i dont know how long to have my side stand to get the bike at the right angle.

So this is where you can help .....

Can someone measure their 2004 S spec adv to see the length and or anyone let me know what angle their bike leans over at on flat level ground ? the best place i have found to measure is the bars in the middle above the tripple clamp. I use my iPhone and got 17 degrees but think that this is a little much, what do you all think ?
    Thanks
    Mat

I can't measure mine (07 S), cause I've done the CJ kick stand mod (you can send it in to CJ and he'll do it).

You cut off the foot, then weld a big nut (3/4" I think) to the leg, then weld the foot back on to a 6 or 8" piece of all thread. Then you will have an adjustable stand. I like mine a little longer than OEM, or I may change it depending on the load I'm hauling.

Go ahead and bite the bullet and do this mod and you won't regret it....

I don't think it's possible to have a 9x0 sidestand that works with all loads and in all situations. I made an adjustable one that is fairly light and IMHO not too ugly. It incorporates a tilting bigger footprint too.

One of my best mods and Is so unobtrusive that on my last loaded trip I forgot that I should have shortened it one notch...too many times offroad I couldn't set the stand and get off, due to uneven surfaces. I had a bunch of camping gear on the back and this is enough to screw up the angle of the badly thought out OEM sidestand position...the footprint should be a few inches further away from the centerline of the bike.

I'm surrently doing the same mod and had the same question(s).

Here is detailed info on stand lengths with part #s off the KTM HOW.

    These are the centerstands manufactured for the various models of Adventure;
    •2003-2004 "S" Model - 6000302200030 = 379mm
    •2003-2004 Standard - 60003022144 = 346mm
    •2005-2010 Standard - 6000302240030 = 333mm
    •2005 "S" Model - 6000302230030 = 359mm
    •2006 "S" Model - 5750302210030 = 378mm
    •2007-2008 "S" Model - 6000302200030 = 379mm
    •2009-2010 "R" Model - 6000302200030 = 379mm

    These are the sidestands:
    •2003-2004 "S" Model - 60003023000 = 349mm
    •2003-2004 Standard - 60003023100 = 319mm
    •2005 Standard - 6000302330030 = 302mm
    •2006-2011 Standard - 6010302310030 = 302mm
    •2005 "S" Model - 60003023100 = 319mm
    •2006-2008 "S" Model - 6010302320030 = 349mm
    •2009-2011 "R" Model - 6010302320030 = 349mm

my issue is that with the
    •2003-2004 "S" Model - 60003023000 = 349mm

is a) how do you measure it as there is a bend and the stand from the non s is way longer than is supposedly is
    and
    b) when i did extend it when i found a way of measuring it the bike was leaning at such a horrendous angle i thought it was going to fall over

there is basically a 30mm extension right ? well to get the bike to a 20 degree lean angle i have had to extend it by about 60mm.

The answer to this will come int he post shortly. I have bought a S stand so i can compare it against the standard and can give you the derivative answer for the future.
