Have been reading the posts on the Blackdog side stand mod and the CJ Designs mod. Two distinctly different designs. What is your opinion on the better design for my 990? I am thinking about the Blackdog skid plate as well. Your thoughts and experience are appreciated.

I installed the BD Skidplate & sidestand relocator- both VERY strong.

Haven't see the CJ Designs relocator so I can't comment on it.

I bought CJ's unit and am still chuckling about how heavy duty it is. I believe it is also rated for any end times / zombie apocalypse / post rapture scenarios. Seriously off road ready piece of kit and great service from CJ as always.

Thanks for the comments. Does the CJ have almost $50.00 more benefit than the BD design in your opinion?

I have the new CJ Designs on order. Hopefully arrives in the next few weeks. I'm not sure if the BDCW puts the stand in the same position as the CJD piece, but I am going to be very happy to have the shifter out of the way of the side stand so I can finally install my Hammerhead Shifter.

+1 for BD. Can't remember why I ultimately picked it but it does as advertised.

The CJ is completely off of the engine and bolted to the frame with a beefy steel bracket. The BD is a slick setup near the stock mount, lighter and less in your face. Either choice will save your arse in the event of a serious smack to the belly. Important thing is to pick one and get it on there before something nasty happens.

I've got the Weld86 bash plate and side stand relocator:

    http://www.weld86motoparts.com/

Its the heaviest duty plate I've seen, and the relocator keeps the side stand in the stock location. The quality is outstanding !

Does the Weld bracket relocate the sidestand or does it just beef up the original mount location?

Beefs it up by distributing the mount points across the length of the plate (4 bolts), once of which is the frame/centre stand mount, but keeps it in the stock position.

I've been happy with my CJdesigns one. Though at times I wish it were just slightly shorter.

It does seem to make the kickstand easier to use for some reason too...

Here you can see the entire thing under the frame.
