What variety of fairing-lower-thingy is that? Homebuilt? Does it keep your lower body any warmer/drier for winter/rain riding, or is it primarily a mud guard?

    ?
that's a bog standard mz ts250/1 leg-shield, slightly bent o) and yes, and yes o)
wouldn't want to miss it on devon's wet and muddy roads.
for keeping your body snug and warm, there used to be available a special throw-over canvas covering your legs and your lower body. east-german winters were and are cold. o)

btw: this is the aerodynamically superior version:

I have a "prototype" for these kind of legshields in my shed, been trying to build them last summer but somehow never got round to finishing them ( too many projects :D ). Shield itself will be diamonsplate I have lying around.

Those canvas coverings are still for sale ( can't find the link on my laptop, must be on my computer upstairs ) but I have asked a friend for a canvas roof off of a Suzuki Samurai to make one myself

I have been seriously considering trying to fit one of those CJ lap aprons to the 400 for the coming winter. I think it's going to be a really rough one this year.

I might just try to build me one o' them thar leg shields, too. :3

Dnepr with Dnepr L/Ls. The swingarm is straight, not bent like a Ural.
