I realize that the camera's perspective affects the visual size of the topcase, but it still looks huge. Whose topcase is that?

The left hand rig that didn't sell became another Boxer Metal build. I gave this to my good friend Shane who helps me out at the shop and this is what has transpired in the last 48 hours. Shane will start a build thread soon.

Thanks Chris for posting up. As Chris mentioned I will be creating a build thread to account for the last week.

Ah thanks. At first i thought you where pulling my leg, but now at a second look there is a gusset plate welded on the back of the fork leg.

This is the first to arrive home. I am picking up the other one in a few hours.

I will start a build thread later if there is any interest from the Soviet era hack crowd.
It is registered in Sweden as a '69.

Looks good. Well maintained. Dneprs have better styling than Urals. Sidevalves are also handsome. It is just the material quality of the Ukranians that spoil it all.
I'd love to see some pictures of its internals.

I'll live with the Modtops for several months and then decide what to do.

Thanks, Barnone! Let me know if you decide to part with them please.

    Sorry for the hijack guys!

    Cheers,

There's nothing wrong quality-wise with KMZ bikes from the 60s and 70s. They were probably better than their IMZ contemporaries.

The prevalence of kit bikes has given Dnepr's a bad rap. (Thanks, Yuri.)

Gotta go with Eastbloc on this one. They may not be high tech but I cut my teeth on triumphs of the same era and the build and material quality of the KMZ is definitely no worse than the Triumphs. If nothing else it is good to not be dealing with Whitworth and UNF threads. :happay
