No Woodworks, no! You're assuming the law has common sense and logic, and it doesn't. Take, for example, the fact that in most auto markets (not so sure about the States), you can buy a small European hatchback that comfortably eclipses the big and somewhat outdated Prius for fuel efficiency. And yet, in those same markets, the Prius guy gets preferential parking at the mall, cheaper registration and road tax, use of car pool lanes even if solo, etc.

Ah, thanks for the link. This lines up with some of my own ideas regarding high performance silencing. Very encouraging. :-)

You may be able to adapt this to your needs or the company make work with you for your installation. https://www.atvsilencer.com/ And yes is a very late responses but I saw your post while looking at this site to see if anyone has tried the ATV Silencer. I'm planning to use it on a side by side that's plated for street use to avoid unnecessary attention while riding on the road.

My old 650 Dakar was very quiet in stock setup and allowed me to sneak into trails after midnight. That was a duel muffler setup why don't you try that.?

Why would you want to be quieter?

As loud as you can so that cagers hear you from miles away! :D

I worked at BMW dealer a few years back when the R1200C cruiser was being sold. It had mufflers that were noticeably louder than the other models. One day a customer showed up with a European market R1200C for us to service and it was much quieter than the US version we were used to. Maybe the Euro F800s are quieter as well.

I wish the straight pipe crowd would take your iPod tip. Or use my little invention for those that like loud: with a good muffler system installed, tap a small hole in the header, attach some flexi tube and run that up to an earpiece, like a doctor's stethoscope. Plenty of sound for you, a quiet life for the rest of us.:D And more business for the hearing aid industry.
