.................@ the national's
Thanks for the all the trail work!
I am new to the Northern NM area, and was trying to figure out exactly where you guys are riding here.....
I know a little bit about the Jemez area on the west side of the caldera, I rode up there the end of last week, even with all of it being closed.
I looked up this Sipapu area, and found that it is part of the Santa Fe NF, which is all closed except for two small areas.
Am I looking it the wrong area?
A little more info would be greatly appreciated.
Sipapu is in the Carson NF, not Santa Fe.
Located on Highway 518, 20 miles southeast of Taos in northwestern New Mexico.
GPS Coordinates: N 36° 09.15 W 105° 32.53
Directions From Taos
Estimated Travel Time: Less than 40 minutes
* Take Hwy 68 South.
* Make a left on Hwy 518.
* Continue 20 miles until you reach Sipapu.
I couldn't tell on google maps what forest it was, what I saw was SFNF.
Gotta fix the CDI in XRL, then I will have to go check it out.
Looks like an awesome area to go for a ride.
Once the dust settled, the carnage was awesome. Great b-day ride today with 8 folks. Did a little hill climb sandbagging.....
Did you guys get rain? It rained hard here...it looked worse over there.
We missed out on the rain but it came down hard after we left...
Man!! I wished we had followed you guys up the hill. We thought you might be going on a longer ride, so we took the trail heading back to the
The conditions were perfect out there.
Nice meeting some of you guys.
Good meeting you guys also. Ya the trail up to La Cueva peak is just a 3/4 mile viewpoint detour from trail 8. It was pretty fun.
Give a shout if your in the area again. We go all the time.
The conditions are probably perfect now. Rained all night. Atom...
Awesome riding Sunday, although I did loose my tool kit (black fender bag about 6 X 10 somewhere between the Amole parking area and FR422). I have some video to put together and hope to have it up in a day or so.
Great meeting some northern riders and hope to ride the area again soon!
Thanks again for the great work on trail maintenance!
Sipapu this Saturday 9:00am Comalas sounds good to me.
I'm in if that is okay. Where are you meeting?
Ski lodge parking lot.
What kind of bikes you riding. Dual sport bigger bike ride or moto? I have a 530 exc. Figured I would ask :)
I been up Comalas with my KTM 640 (not recommended) but will be riding the KDX220
I think it is a 2T green bike.
You mind a couple local boys joining in? B-rad and I are interested. If the group is full, no worries as we can do our normal routine up there. It has been good with these rains. Conditions are nice...
Never full. They start dropping like flys.
Retro, you dawg. I already had a commitment for Sat/Sun.
Camping and trials in Jemez.
