Thanks for all the kinds words of support and encouragement from the ADVfaithful! Life is a process and we can't always choose the eventual route we'll go down. Make the most each and every day of the route you're on and enjoy the ride.

I have been following your progress for years now, just saw the video of you walking. I know how hard it was to get to that point. Keep it up, you've already beat the odds.

Well, it's been a while--a quiet while. The news to report might, at first, sound rough; however, it's all about moving on down the road and getting better, right?

The last two years since the near-miraculous total knee replacement and all the work that we've put in have been bested and trumped by the nasty bugs in the bone. The Infectious Disease specialist has not been able to suppress the chronic bone infection, so after getting the long face from her and from two other surgeons, it was time to gut it up and do what had to be done to become infection-free: an above-the-knee amputation.

The surgery was two days ago and it went pretty well. They are going back in on Tuesday to take out the antibiotic beads, install a drain, clear some old scar tissue, and then close the stump up nice and purty. The amputation was made low enough so that there will be plenty of stump for the prosthetist to work with in a few months.

Six years ago today, I had the crash which started this all, and it seemed somewhat "symmetric" to have these two surgeries closely connect to the original crash date. Life is good and there is nothing but good up the road. FYYFF!

Yeah, it surely looks like a fine, aged ham in natural juices. I just need me some green eggs to go with the hospital chocolate pudding . . .

Sorry to hear of the setback Diesel. Six years of ups and downs, no one can say you and the docs didn't try hard enough. Moving forward in a new direction is much better than staying stuck in a hole. Get well soon!
    Best Regards....just jeff
