    DAY ONE
As usual the good luck fellows from Washington had epic conditions for their annual SkiMoto trip to Central Oregon. Heavy rain on wednesday night pre-soaked the trails and saturated the few 2 track roads we intended to roost on thursday.

Ken toasts the good fortune with Patron that Jim brought for the occasion - :freaky

5 bikes ready to roll up into the forest - Ken, Jim, Brad, Dustin and myself.

    Chocolate love trail.

The sun popped out but still no dust and the morning is awesome - Jim giving that throttle a workout.

Up in elevation looking for more dust free action - and finding it!

    Brad on his nice 200.

    Jim

Dustin on a well-earned day off in the forest.

We ran into a couple other buddies who joined us for the roosting festival. Ken has a TIMBER SLED for his 530 and just returned it to dirt bike mode. His rear brake quit (and he’s still fast)

    Here’s John -

    And Todd -

Myself dropping into the dry canyon section which is perfect this morning!

Hey Ken - I think that’s ICE not snow -

Excellent conditions to the top of a local butte for a break - but it looks like a little spring snow squall is coming our way -

    Yup it’s snowing.

We enthusiastically roast a bunch of single track and 2 track back down into some warmer weather and Dustin picked up a nasty snake bite on his 19” KX250 rear.

Not a problem, he spoons in a 21” front and we’re back in action.

Back in the goods now, we choose Stan’s sandy ditch trail as it is untracked and still moist. Brad dropping into one of the more fun sections.

Took the ‘Tree farm’ route back up towards more moist dirt as it is starting to dry out down low - Dustin -

    Jim -

Crappy photo but Ken was hauling ass through here and hit a rock which was tossed out of the frame.

John took off for home and we rode this awesome ditch back down towards the barn (and beer cooler!) Dustin romping through, just before he pin-balled of a stone and destroyed his chain guide!

    Closer look -

    Kenny chargin’

Brad and Todd in 3rd gear.

Once you get to know this trail it’s really fun - tight in places but fun!

The end of day one - tomorrow we SKI!

    DAY TWO

So it snowed about 5” up on Mt Bachelor during the night and we were up there for some spring powder. Every time these guys have come down here the riding and skiing (and snowboarding) conditions are PERFECT!

In the hustle to get going I forgot my camera and only snapped these super crappy phone pics but that’s ok ‘cause it seems most people here hate snow anyway.
    Jim roosting powder -

One after another, we torched runs on the lower mountain. We were just about ready to hang it up for the day when the sun poked out and the summit chair opened up - strange for the mountain to get that running as they are closing at 2pm now. Did they know about SkiMoto 2012?

We polished off the day with more untracked powder, nachos, beer and tequila. A little bonfire and early to bed.

    Day three next . . .

    DAY THREE -

Everyone is stoked to get back on the bikes and explore 2 different areas today. The first is a brand new riding zone just up the road from our place, west of Redmond. Trails with maps and it’s actually legal?!
It’s pretty cool, super rocky and technical, kinda dusty but fun.

    Graham-

Ken - it’s dusty here already

No worries, we have all day and trucked the bikes to the next trail head. Dirt was better, temps a little cooler and there was NO ONE out there.

    Jim -

Graham - on his Husky 250

Oh yeah - this soil will do just fine for the rest of today!

    Jim-

It’s a little bit dusty but we’re headed up into the mountains.

    Jim-

Graham knows the way, it’s tight and we’re the first bikes through here this season as the snow just melted.

The first of many downed trees over the trail.

    Jim finding the get-around.

    Ken on the ‘trail’

    Graham -

Oops - I’m failing Log Crossing 2012 class

More logs and then Graham’s silencer fell off the Husky. We know what to do. :lol3

    All fixed -

Only about another 20 logs to cross when we arrive at the turn around.

Back the way we came for round 2 with the logs - Ken doing it right

    Me blowing it -

Back to the rig and ready for happy hour

    That’s it for SkiMoto2012!
