From what I have been able to determine from searching for speed limit signs in Google Street, most of the route is 65 MPH, with a 60 MPH limit for a total of about 160 miles in Nebraska. Of course, when traveling through towns, speed limits are normally reduced within city limits. There's about 36 miles of divided highway, all the rest of it is two-lane undivided.

Google Maps calculates average speed over the whole trip at 60.3 MPH.

I'd like to be moved into the "all in" column :D

I just need to see about a room at each spot.

Redneckdan- if you make the hills trip, let me know. I'd be glad to ride over to the start in KS with ya.

Good to hear you're still in, Tmaximusv & Plumber Mike. "Scott in Kansas" just E-mailed me to say that his wife "would prefer he not go" this year, so he's out. (But he's interested in 2016, if this becomes an annual thing?) It looks like we're settling in at 8-10 riders.

By the way, we're going to be officially recognized!
I just got this e-mail from the Smith County, KS, chamber of commerce: "Someone from Smith County will be at the US Center Monument by 5:15 on June 20 to see you off and present the group with post cards to mark the event."

BTW, when I first saw your forum handle, Tmaximusv, I had to check your profile to see what bikes were in your stable. My initial thought was...

(Which probably would be a pretty ideal mount for this trip!)

Yes, might be an ideal mount for the trip, but I will be on the Pig GS suffering through low fuel economy and quite enjoying the whole thing!

My handle comes from a college earned nickname: Thaneous Maximus Voltarious. Meaning I could orate a lot:deal:lol3

I got a call this morning from the guy who owns The Buckshot Inn in Smith Center, KS. He was a disappointed to learn that I'd listed the US Center Inn on the flyer but not his motel, which is just down the street. So, if anybody still needs to make reservations in Smith Center for Friday night, you do have one more option. I have no idea what this or any of the hotels/motels are like in either Smith Center or Rugby, so I'm not making any endorsements, just passing along info:

    The Buckshot Inn

He did note that they no longer operate the campground or bar that are listed on their web site.

He also said he's a rider and would be very interested in doing the ride. He just learned about it and he can't do it this time, but will make plans for next year if this becomes an annual thing.

So who will be staying in Smith Center Friday night? Doesn't look like a lot of dining options, but likely something workable.

My wife and I and Rusty Spokes are spending the night in Smith Center and we're planning to have dinner Friday at Jiffy Burger. We've never been there, but it seems to have good Yelp reviews.

I rented a room for Friday night at the Buckshot Inn for SwedeAdv and me. The proprietor said there was a pretty good Mexican food place in Smith Center and also Pooches Bar which serves everything from steaks to burgers. We are going to work some gravel roads down from Nebraska and will need to quench a powerful thirst by the time we get to Smith Center so figurin' on having beer and burgers at Pooches about 6:00 p.m.

    To all participants:

My wife and I will be at the Lebanon monument for people to sign in by approximately 5:30. Once everyone arrives, we'll take a group photo or two and folks can roll out. In any case, we will depart no later than sunrise (6:06 AM).

IF YOU'RE NOT ON THIS LIST, WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU TO SIGN IN!
