I am considering moving to Smugmug. Photobucket is changing format to be more like Facebook, and making my use of it far more difficult. I like many features Smugmug has, but I am having a hard time deciding if it is right for me.

One feature that may very well be make or break is the ability to select several photos from one individual galley and create a batch of links so I can post them all at once. Photobucket will not be able to do this in the near future, and it is deadly slow.

So, how do I select some, but not all, photos from one gallery, generate a group/batch of links, and copy/paste them to a forum?

    Any help will be appreciated!

Although pathetically cheap, I chose Smugmug cause Baldy owns it. I love ADVrider and want to support Baldy. :deal

Can't tell you anything about the features you're looking for though.

No, that part was easy to figure out. I like all the features about Smugmug, but I like to post half a dozen or more photos at a time on occasion, and Photobucket allows me to do that by selecting all the photos I want at once, then generating all the tags with one click. That feature is going away, and combined with the stupid Facebook like redo of the site and pathetically slow search capability, I need a different provider.

I didn't know you could do that with PB.

I jumped to Smug Mug because I don't like the new PB either.

This may not be what you want to do but in Smug Mug you can create a slide show for images in a gallery.
    :beer
    <object classid="clsid<img src=" http:="" d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net="" icon10.gif"="" alt="" title="Grin" smilieid="106" class="inlineimg" border="0">

    <embed src="http://www.smugmug.com/ria/ShizamSlides-2012031404.swf" flashvars="AlbumID=28146622&dontpost=true&AlbumKey=QPRVCp&newWindow=false&width=400&height=400&transparent=true&splash=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smugmug.com%2Fimg%2Fria%2FShizamSlides%2Fsmugmug_black.png&showLogo=true&captions=true&clickUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smugmug.com&showThumbs=true&showButtons=true&pageStyle=white&autoStart=true&showSpeed=true&VersionNos=2012031404&splashDelay=0&crossFadeSpeed=350&clickToImage=true&showStartButton=false&randomStart=false&randomize=true&mainHost=cdn.smugmug.com" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allownetworking="all" height="400" width="400"></object>

I'm not sure if there is a way exclude some images in the gallery, this is the first slide show I've posted.

I'm still figuring things out at SM, but it's fast and I'm liking the way things work.

I e-mailed Smugmug and it is not an option. Oh well, worth a try.

Jim, what post editor do you use here? You can just drag and drop if you use the wysiwyg one.

I'm not sure what you mean? On ADVRider forum, or on Photobucket?

If you select WYSIWYG editor on ADV (Inmate CP, edit options), you can drag and drop your pics from Smuggy.

I'll have to try that. It might be easier than just right click copy, right click paste.

By the way. Photobucket did cary over the batching, and while they are still slow and awkward to use, that has me hesitating switching over to Smugmug. Maybe they can add that feature?

I recently switched to smugmug because of photobucket changes (and I don't like change). While I'm still learning how to make the most of smugmug's features, I will say that I already like it thus far.

I think that the only issue I have with it thus far is that it's harder to hotlink pictures compared to photobucket's original method, where you could hover over and image, click, and pull a link into the clipboard. The link sizing options kind of make up for it though.

Been with SmugMug a while, but how long does it take to "process an image" that is piddly 110K in size? :scratch

You do a screen refresh repeatedly and yup...its still "processing image". :rolleyes

Furthermore, what is there to "process".

Edited to add: more then 3 months later, Smugmug is "processing" a single 2.5 Mb picture file that I just uploaded and more than 10 minutes later, it is still "processing". :rolleyes What are you guys running there, a 1980s XT.

By the way, my camera did the processing, so again, what is there to "process"?
