It's ANZAC day here, a holiday to commemorate our fallen in the wars Australia and New Zealand have been involved in.. so a last minute day trip was organised to the east of Melbourne in the worst weather we have ridden in. [IMG]

Foggy and pissing down with rain

but great conditions for some interesting photos

    The delights of Phasmid track

    very slippy
    [IMG]

tell me again why we do this?

Found this little lookout, bloody freezing up here

4 layers and body armor I feel like the Michelin Man

Bruce's KLX with a 300cc kit and a Pro Taper pipe on its first run, he loved it, heaps more punch, said he can leave it in one gear for longer instead of changing up and down all the time
    [IMG]

Then the weather really set in

bit nicer as we dropped down the hill

The sun came out for a minute
    [IMG]

After this shot my camera stopped working due to the cold

[IMG]got back a sodden mess but a great ride, there is something special about the bush when the weather closes in.

I got some sad news last week a mates mum passed away, I missed the funeral so he has asked me up to his property near Dalesford next week for a catch up.
I'm planning to take the long way, mostly by tar, I'm a bit excited I have never done an overnight trip before, those of you with young kids will understand.

After a good cleaning session it's off with the dirt shoes

    ...and on with these.

I recon tyre choice for the Melbourne area in winter is difficult. I tried using Dunlop 606's but I found I wasnt confident in the miles of twistys we have out to the east and when you get into the bush its mostly snotty clay and they clag up. So I tyre swap between the MotoX and road tyres, its a pain... In the perfect world I would have a V-Strom as well.

It will be the first time I load the WR up with gear, so out with the ocky straps ( I am open to suggestions here) I have seen posts with WR's loaded to buggery, i'm wondering how they handle like that?
    [IMG][IMG]

So over tyre changing, it's like a gym workout, takes me about 1hr and half for nuts off to nuts on including a counter sprocket change from 12 to 13 for road (mmmm where's that V-Strom)

Ahh must be beer o clock, tools down. :D

:huh i found D606's great on greasy roads. hell i even did motard(my late DR650) ride days on them wet or dry, in the wet they were better than the road tyres

That's interesting, I agree around town the 606's are great but over 100kph the front end got vague, I have had the wheels balanced since and with the rimlocks out might be worth a try again.

got me mate i do 500km's of highway a week min but i mostly use AC10's on the front now and i will be getting D606 rear again to try

i had used Mt21's(front and rear) and a T63 rear on the WR also plenty of fast twistys on all the tyres mentioned.....must be me i tend to be vague at times :D

This was my first overnight trip on the bike
Left work around 3pm to head up to the Daylesford area to visit friends that have a property.

First stop was Yan Yean dam, as usual for Southern Victoria freezing cold and the odd shower

Woodend for dinner and warm up, the bicycle belongs to this old bloke I got talking to, he had ridden from about 20kms away. He had to tell me about every motorbike he had owned and everything that is wrong with the world
