not sure what the snow cover looks like now at the campground, but the cams at paradise show a fair amount of snow.
On the way out there with a load of oak...
All loaded up, ready to head down that way after work, and this is what I noticed after riding to work ...
:huh "knock on wood" mebbe just a plugged breather?
Back to get the hack - the night was clear and quiet last night.
This morning, ~0715 somebody rolled in with a trailer and off-loaded a KTM - then left. I figure, maybe had to go to work and came in with a friend?
The roads out yesterday, and back this morning were clear - possibility for frozen fog or black ice exists depending on the temperature, but it didn't present a problem either time. *Grant - the road into the campground has a little ice and snow, but nuttin' serious.
OH - and DNR was there to check for Disco passes this morning, asked me to remind folks "the pass is for the vehicle, not the person" and if you're bringing a cage you need to leave it on the dash or hang it from the mirror, or you could get a ticket...
Motorbikes, of course, you can just keep it in yer pocket an' have it handy if she comes back around.
Lastly, they changed out the fire ring. It is nice-n-new, but a tad smaller than what was out there before. I'ma leave the fahr-tending to you'ns...
Seeya out there!
I have to keep up on the PNW forum more often. I just committed to an MSF class for this weekend.
That forecast looks downright balmy. Maybe they'll truck in some beach sand and a palm tree.
Post pics here after?
Heading out, after a quick bike swap. Guess it'll be 2 wheels this weekend!
Gritz n' Gravy
Even though the weather looks great, i've decided to wuss out this year.
Have a great time, & keep the fire roaring.
I'm not gonna make it... too much stuff to do this weekend, and not enough cash to go have fun yet..
have a drink or 5 for me
Dang Austin, that's a bummer. We'll miss ya'.
Wayne-meister just told me his hip is causing extreme pain, and he might not make it either.
I'm having trouble finding un-frozen turkeys to "dunk", but thinking maybe a huge bag of onions and a strainer for onion rings?
All these reg's and rules, thinking someone should bring a cannon and get us all banished to the next "
Mo betta'" camp site..." Just sayin'...
Anyhow, I'm packed and will be on my way shortly. Only 300 miles....
Sorry to hear Wayne's hip is still causing him grief. You don't need a cannon. Just drop one of them frozen turkeys in the fryer, It'll work the same(disclaimer...Really Bad Idea). Buy a live Turkey. Just think of all the entertainment chasing it around camp then the big payoff once cooked. Have fun, Take pictures and make me wish I was there instead of elbows deep in this pile of Honda 90's.
glad that i was able to make it out this year and break my snow camp cherry.
thanks for the smoked pork Dave. Thank you for the wood Tony. A big thank you to Andrea(sp) for the glühwein, it was awesome! The biggest thanks goes to Rolf for making chili and coffee and keeping that amazing fire stoked, thank you Sir!
also it was good to meet local like minded folks
Good meetin' you Kevin - so... you rode the beast up to Paradise?
Got back earlier today - now that I'm rested, time to post some memories... :sigh Already pining for next year.
Got a load of wood on Thursday... did I already say that?
After cutting these ~10 foot pieces in half so they'd fit the fire ring, and hauling them out to the campsite, what do I find?
...somebody must've put the fire ring in the dryer...
Folks didn't seem to mind though.
Turns out the KTM was the Panda's (hidden in this picture) and the bear was asleep - not working. Panda's keep weird hours.
meeting again for the first time? good to meet you again as well Tony.
actually that first shot was taken at Dogwood View Point on the way in on Friday afternoon.
pining, is that a Christmas tree refrence?
I was told this tree had had 40 Christmas candles on it... wonder if the frocking was magnesium... :eek1 was a spectacular sight.
Yesterday Joe shows up with... more wood!
*closed course - professional riders - do not attempt*
Yep - an ya' diin't bust yer cherry if you just laid around in camp... maybe next year, eh?
