    Many parts have landed:

    Race Tech emulators
    Ohlins shock (so tasty!)
Acerbis hand protectors with built in turn signals
    New tubes for the tires
R100GS muffler (sadly with the internals knocked free and shaking around)
anyone have a spare R100GS muffler?
    carb rebuild kits

    Still on the way:
    R80G/S stock dual seat
    4-valve K bike 4 piston caliper
    BIG box o BMW parts!

The trans is ready to go back in tonight with the new neutral switch, splines lubed and the trans case is kinda cleaned up. The emissions have been ditched.

    pix later!

I am trading emails with Boxerworks... they make a machined adapter for $70 for this application.

Well, after seeing the boxerworks caliper adapter I do not think I am going to go that route. Currently have a line on a second rotor and caliper to go with dual front stock brakes on my G/S...

Anyone want to buy my now spare 4-valve K bike caliper? $60 including shipping to you! Boxerworks sells an adapter for $70 to mount it to your G/S forks...

Here is a shot of a G/S with the caliper bracket from boxerworks

    Trans back in
    Stripped shaft drain hole fixed!
    Carbs ready to be dunked
    Odyssey battery on the bench
Rear tube pulled last night (holed) new tube ready to go in!
    Seat arrived last night...

With some luck :pope , and a late night or two I may take my first test ride Sunday!!!!!! :ricky

Here's a shot from this morning... looking good huh? :evil

    thats totally cool, solo :clap

Your stock G/S forks already have the bosses for mounting the second caliper on the other leg, dont they?

On the Boxerwerks bike- it looks dual plugged, but any idea whats with that huge-looking valve cover?

We might be able to work some sort of package deal for some stuff. Honestly, improving the front brake on my (Feb '81) not so special G/S (with just an ordinary blue tank) hasn't been on the list, but after reading all this, I am thinking I should make that brake match the improved front end and better rear shock.

Still reading all this with great interest.

So, I spoke to the owner who had the bike from 1995-2003... he verified the mileage. He bought the bike at 9K, and rode it to 17K...

I spent about 20 late-night hours in the shop putting the bike together in preparation for my first ride this Sunday morning! Here is the bike just before I added fuel

I had rebuilt the carbs, so a few miles into the ride the idle was high, so I tested the suspension driving over the parking "bumps" in the background and took out the tool box to adjust the mixture and idle... tooks lots of adjustment from the book standard..

Rode a few more miles, and the carbs need a bit more tinkering...

    When I got home a did a quick walk-around I found this...

Oh well, ordered a set of TKC's from Woody's this morning... The next hit was a leaking final drive seal... which takes us back to this (new) picture..... looks familiar huh?

but how do you LIKE it? :evil

PS- I bet you could get a few more miles out of that rear muffler by sanding a little rust off and hitting it with high-temp black rattlecan paint.

    pps It looks great.

My exact reoccuring thought was "COOL! :thumb"

    Likes
really feels light compaired to the R100GS (feels like a bigger diff then it may be)
suspension is quite plush (Ohlins w/ progressive in front, Racetech in the plans) travel was fine going over the parking bump, and through pot holes
good power, didn't seems to be lacking on this limited test
    turns quicker than the R100GS
    Overall :thumb :thumb

    Dislikes/Differences
front brakes suck (reviewing a few options now)
much more exposure to weather (slipstream deflector on the way)
climbs the final drive when leaving from a stop (R100GS didn't).. reminds me the /5 I owned a long time ago

paint, my friend, won't fill the 5 holes !
