    Climbs the final drive-- Jacking?

Ah yes- paint wont fill those :D never mind

I think the weight difference is only about 50lbs, but the 80 carries it nicer, I think.

    Know any welders?

If it's "shape" is still there, cut it open, cut out the bad parts, weld in the good parts, and coat that sucker.

I love the ways she rises to my every whimsical acceleration,
And how she squats with me as we carefully enter a corner.
Sure 40hp ain't much, but her broad, confidant, purr
Hoists my fat ass wherever, whenever, whyever.

    I luvs my G/S!

(That, dear friends, was a miserable attempt as G/S poetry. Sorry.)

Congrats Gage, guess it serves me right for hanging in the basement too much; I missed your intro here. Of course, I'll be round for the finish, but it's nice to be a part of the middle, too: your tank is on the way! Couple of surprises, too. Just junker bits, busted up a bit, but you said you needed 'em. Not going to tell you what they are, but they're the best price---free!

Thanks Tyll!:clap I'm looking forward to riding together and trading bikes to see how they compare... Before yesterday I hadn't ever ridden an R80G/S, and the R60/5 I last rode left my ownership in 1996.....

This shot is by my lovely wife, right after I got back from the 1st ride... right before I found the tire split and leaking final drive seal (which I dropped at the shop this morning, back by Friday!)

Can you tell I'm smiling? :ricky

I believe it's an old San Jose brace, most often seen on airheads road bikes.... I had one on my R100RS, both of 'em actually...

    **edit** found it...

    Part No. 125-B7
    Fork Brace - Tubular
    [IMG]
This sturdy tubular steel fork brace holds fork tubes in precise alignment and exerts a self-aligning torque as cornering forces increase. Provides smoother fork action, sharper steering response and more stable, predictable handling. Fits most Airhead twins from 74-80. Direct bolt on for all with "S" style fender, other fenders may require some drilling.

what was the deal with the split tire. old tire, freak happening, or odd road encounter?

Well I just ratcheted the price up to $36, but someone has set an autobid. :poser:poser:poser

I really don't want to spend the money as I just excersized my freshly fat PayPal account to plonk down $130 for Garmin Topo2008.

Oh, and sorry if it's one of you guys.
