I know the Alaska thing has been done to death, but this will be my first time there. I thought I'd do a thread I could upload photos and videos to.

And the award for packing light for an extended motorcycle camping trip goes to...

    Someone else.

I'll be departing from northern Oregon in the am. If anyone else is on the road and sees me, say hi. The bike has an ADV sticker, and my avatar on the back.

In the morning my GPS track should be here:

And color-coordinated luggage - at least from the right side. :lol3 Don't worry, next trip will be with about 40% or less of that weight.

I too am impressed with how coordinated your ensemble looks! You'll have to give us the low down on what you packed, what you actually used & what you would do differently the next time.

I'll be up there next week but not by bike although I wish that were the case. If I see you I'll shout out to you! Easy enough to remember your avatar!

Good luck & enjoy your solo time.

So true. I could have left an entire saddlebag at home and not missed it.

I'm in. If you're taking that much stuff, I have to see how you handle any mishap.

I'd imagine this is what Santa's setup would be like if he traded in his sleigh for 2 wheels :lol3

Knowing I'll probably never make the trek, I love to live vicariously through the Alaskan bound adventurers. Good luck, and I'm in too. :clap

You are going to put tires up on top of that aren't you? Wouldn't quite look right without.....:lol3
    I've seen way worse.
As Alcan rider says, it won't take you long to see what you really need....for next time.
There's an old saying about visiting Alaska: Once you go up you never come all the way back. Have a great ride!

way too much crap to haul up here , common mistake. everyone headed this way needs to start weighing their load, then have a talk with yourself and dump half of it . bike will handle better, and be more fun to ride, easier on the bike -easier on you. sorry, guess i am beating it to death. stop along the way and have a garage sale!!!

Have a great trip and be safe...... you will discover that dual purpose items will shed over 50% of stuff you pack, and that LESS really is MORE.

....are you sure your not planning a side trip to do some paragliding?? that bag is about the right size :evil .. Rock on..have fun.:clap
