I hadn't even noticed that until you mentioned it. Could easily be a salute! :clap

Thanks. Loss of tent never came into play since I didn't get rained on.

Early next morning I ran into a ranger who told me that some colder and bad weather was headed our way. I had planned to stay out one more night before heading back into Bishop to load up and drive back to Bend. Decided to cut the trip a little short and headed back towards South Pass and Panamint to slab back into Bishop. Temps were cold up top but no rain. Stopped and took a few pics on the way back but nothing much else to report. Great trip and I'll definitely be back.

    No flats...no breakdowns.....one trashed tent.....some hairy naked hippies....great riding.......scenery galore......great characters......cold beer........GREAT TRIP!

One last photo taken on the drive home! Had posted this video earlier but here it is again. Kind of a recap of the report with some tunes to boot.

    Great Ride Hank , :clap

We were there right around the same time ? April 9th - the 16th .

I keep thinking I should write a ride report but never seem to have the time ? It's a lot of work ! :deal

We went most of the places you did and were on similar bikes . I was on the same XR650L and Mark a friend from Michigan who flow out to Vegas to meet us rode my old XL600 with 37000 miles and my friend Dewitt on his XR400 .

I agree with you on Goler Wash , no big deal we all rode right up it .
But we saw a few people that had a real hard time , a group of people came behind us that we watched . One guy on a CRF 450 hit it and bounced right in to the rock wall on the left and fell down and some on quads the didn't know what they were doing ? Even some jeeps had a hard time ? We are all in the same age group and have been riding most our lives , so I think that is most of it ?

We camped out and found a few nice cabins to stay in .

It was a awesome time and went way to fast ! :freaky

I don't often take the time to watch many videos while perusing RRs, but I'm glad I clicked on yours. You did an excellent job editing this video. It really was entertaining. Best of all, it really represents what it's like to ride solo in DV.

I loved the lizard running across the bottom of the frame around 3:40.

    Excellent Report! :thumb

Thanks BigHo. Not so much talent, just spectacular scenery to shoot with good lighting.

:clapwas there the weekend of the 15th, had a great time. My buds and I had no problem with Goler Wash on 2 klr650's and a husky te610. Good times and yes it was HOT out on the racetrack.

Thank you for taking time to post so much info...great photography and helpful info. I've taken some notes of your path as I look into a ride there in late Fall when things have cooled down. I'll probably start north in Bodie and try and hook up as much dirt to Death Valley as I can. I'm on a bulkier GS 1150 so hopefully conditions aren't too challenging.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,

Nice Ride Report and Great Pictures. Miguel and I were there the first week of March with our 650L's. We trailered through snow and nasty weather to Beatty, NV. Weather was great the whole week then turned lousy for the trip home. You took a nice Picture of my signature on the ADV Tea Kettle...lol. Death Valley is an incredible place. I had the same thought at Furnace Creek. Tourists thinking they have really seen DV...Hah. Lucky for us they don't know the truth.

Doug....I don't think there is anything I did that you couldn't do on the 1150 if you just slow down and take your time. I have a Wee Strom as well as my 650 and I'd do everything I did on it to include Lippincott Road. The only area that might be a problem would be Goler Wash step up. I think I might have bottomed out there but if you did it with someome and had some help you could muscle it up and over without doing any bottom end damage.

Thanks for the pics and RR!
Nice to see the human spirit is not completely bottled up.. And an odd collection at that - hippies in hot springs, souped up road warrior dune buggy, old men eating steak - cute girl on loaded 250 - and wasn't that at least one pic of a jackass! Great friggin read!

May have been, but I thought she mentioned she was out of Seattle. Maybe she'd been in Seattle, can't remember for sure. She was really nice but I didn't get a chance to talk long.
