It must really suck to do a trip most people only dream about and bitch about everything that doesn't go your way

Maybe some more name calling will make you feel better

And you couldn't pay me to stay off 'em. Some of the best ones have been closed off to traffic and replaced with tunnels.

In Italy it is OK to drive around barriers on a moto, they are just graciously reserved for moto riders. :D

Lets see, pick a large bike not suited for the ride, want an entire lane to claim and ride near the center of the road, keep the motor at idle in a higher gear around tight turns, afraid of small unmarked roads with no guardrails. That screams a N American rider visible from satellites. Just need to add a sleeveless Denim or leather vest, blue jeans, fingerless gloves and red wing work boots and you are identifiable on or off the bike. :D

    As is only fitting.

Locked metal gates, however, are a bit more difficult to circumvent. This one happened to be in France, but you get the idea.

Hardly the middle of the road.
Notice the driver cranking the wheel right and the bus's distance from the right curb. Notice my right mirror almost scraping the rock.

Looks normal to me, he is setting up for a tight RH hairpin, he left you 4 feet along the RH side of the road, where you should have exited the LH turn.

Pffttt..............that is just a few playing hooky and hanging out on the corner. Best part is after they cleared, and we did a couple hairpins, here came the same herd across the road in front of us, we waited, and 2 or 3 turns later here they came again!!

I just read the ride report....Jesus wept...it was like something from Days of Our Lives.....you almost lost it on Stelvio on the RT and you wanted a K1600....

Stelvio is fantastic fun and not at all scary......on a GS.

But, hey, why listen to the blokes who have done it? WTF would they know? A K1600 is a perfect Alps bike....
