Nice to see our country through your eyes, glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for a great report. You have really captured a lot of the diversity and contrasts we have in our country. From modern cities to rural areas with the old tribal systems still in place. It really is a country of a 1000 cultures and it's that mix that makes it a unique and interesting place to live or visit. You have only seen a small part of the riding the country has to offer so you will have come back and see some more!!!
Here is a pic from an older toy-run in Durban
fantastic photo's, and a wonderful story.
It's always interesting to see your own country through the eyes of a visitor.
Thanks, and I hope you come to visit again.
I will definitely come back to your beautiful country. I realy enjoyed my trip there. I still must do the route from Joburg to Cape Town and back.
Thanks for an awesome report.
As a South African it is nice to see a report that contains the reality of our country and not some touristy made up interpretation
Lovely report and some very moving pictures too. Well done and we look forward to welcoming you back
Very nice report. Well done!
Fantastic report. thank you,
I really want to go there now.
Great report, captures DS riding KwaZulu Natal very well.
Other parts of the country offer still more diversity (the arid Karoo is especially great for DS riding) - come back and finish the report one day !
Great report, glad you enjoyed the country.
Thanks! Your country is beautiful! I'll be back!
Wonderful report and pics!
In the mid 80's I lived in Jo'burg, and one of my big regrets is that I didn't tour southern Africa more by motorcycle. I did some riding in town, and some dirt riding here and there, but I didn't really tour the country. I did spend a lot of time in Durban (loved the Indian food!) and I camped in the Drakensberg mountains. Just beautiful. Your next South Africa adventure needs to be the Cape and the Karoo. And while in the Cape you can discover that South Africa doesn't just have good beer, but magnificent wine as well!
Without doubt South Africa is perfect for motorcycles! Thanks again for the report!
Thanks! Next time I will ride in Capo and Karoo, definitely.
Yes I know that you have magnificent wine, I tried some but forget to mention that in my RR.
Thank you for the wonderful report. You had a busy moto-vacation. SAR looks like a great place to ride.
SAR is realy great place to ride.
I'm envious. A destination to add to the list for sure!
Hi there. Excellent photos and a nice yourney through a part of our country. I must comment on the animal tails. Have you checked oxtail? It's like the backbones, the spine. This is definitely not it. What they're showing you here can be 1 of 2 things. One is the bull's penis, which is more likely. They use it as muti (medicine). The other is they cut the skin of hippopottamus into such strips, to use it as sjamboks (similar to a cane, to whip someone). No wonder he looked surprised at you.
Thank you for sharing your report. It is inspirational, I've always wanted to go to lesotho and South Africa. Maybe someday.
They said something about medicine with dry tails, as I remember. Maybe they cut the skin into strips, I am not sure.
It is a destination to add somewhere on the top of the list.
