Just seeing if I can scare up any riders around SE Idaho. The old thread hasn't had anyone post for a very long time. If we get a warm afternoon we might still get a trip around the "W".

Went over Pete's Pass in a foot of snow last weekend. Just about time to get the sled out.

Contrary to popular belief, the conditions for life DO exist in SE Idaho! I believe we've talked before.

Got chased off Taylor Mt. yesterday by rain so went out west and surveyed the realm.

Hope conditions for sleds are better this year. Guys coming back from Island Park with sage brush embedded and really bad dispositions.

IP has only had about 4-6 inches. Not time yet unless you like buying A arms.

I checked Howell Canyon Wednesday, a bit of snow but not near enough to go sledding yet.

Anybody interested in a Baja trip? Thinking maybe 4th week of March. Truck to border then ride. Loop around Northern Baja then home.

Well thank you! If you want to star in next years show, I'm hoping to cross Oregon to the coast and up to see my brother in Port Orchard then across the NWP and then from Canada to Mexico along the rockies! Plans are always subject to change, but you only hit what you aim at.

Been sledding the last 5 days. Deep powder, no tracks and nothing but sunshine. Whew, that was tough.

A dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.
I got some murderous stares last year when I asked a guy "How's sledding?"

Roger that. Talking to locals seems like the Lolo and Magruder might still be snowy mid June. One tactic they use is to wait until the ATV outfitters have gone over and cleared all the trees and cleared the drifts. Just a thought. And be sure to keep an eye on SNOTEL

Check out the Palouse and Spokane area threads under Regional Forums. Those guys have a much better feel for timing. Last June, several passes I wanted to cross in Northern Nevada were closed due to snow. The mountains can look clear from the valleys, but when you get up there, there's always a shaded area or old slide remnant that will block the road for just a short way but that's usually enough. That's why I'm going to the Wallowa thing. Lower altitude, spectacular wilderness and they seem to pull it off every year.
