If you're in Vegas... you're pretty close to Zion NP in Utah (my favorite NP). If you go there hike the narrows (do it from the end of the hike towards the narrows... about 3 miles) and check out Angel's Landing. :deal

Got out for about an hour and a half Saturday late afternoon!!! Found a few minutes to waste after chores and the required Saturday afternoon nap by the pool!! Seriously spur of the moment deal!!!! So I took the DR out and proceeded to find places to ride in the farmlands and the glades!!! I was out in that 'gray area' west of the main canal, but not in the park!!!!!!!!!!. Basically about 5 or 6 miles SW of Schneblys!!! Nice ride on the levy and the roads along the canal. Weather was perfect!!

Nice little trail with a good view!!

just a quick shot from my phone......Sharon took a bunch, maybe she can post one.

I am working on getting back to the white fenders and side panels, previous owner did a crappy job of painting black, plus I like the white better.

Those are sweet tires for a DR650, FLA - do you really have that many places to ride off-road down there?

I use mine for commuting and 10% (maybe even 5%) off-road just because of my schedule, where I live and such, so I can't see knobbies like those lasting (or, really, me even staying upright on the pavement - I lose rear-tire street traction around corners even now).

Have you tried running through the banana groves on street tires, or small knobbies? many mud naps are had!! LOL!!

The GSA is my commuter and travel bike, it usually has Tourances installed. The DR was bought to play out in the farmlands and the everglades, knobbies required!!!

I would say you are correct...... I love the ER for most of my riding but I loved the Dr350 for the levees and the dirt stuff......I told John this weekend.....I really don't mind some of the back roads and dirt/clay stuff but the deep sand I just don't really care for no matter what tires you have.......I can do some of it but the 250XT is about it on that deep sand stuff for me......

Andy did you get to ride the groves any while you were there?

I ordered a new helmet this weekend so hopefully I have it here this week..... I maybe headed up to CFL this weekend for a ride....we will see if anyone want to ride along PM me. Sanjoh's a birthday boy this coming weekend!:evil

    Andy the bike looks great!

I got a late start up there on Friday........and by the time we got the windscreen on, messed with turnsignals and power for GPS it was 3pm and I needed to get back south. So its another trip up to go riding!!!!

I agree on the deep sand, its just not fun and falling off hurts to much!!!!

I am hoping to get a little riding done on Saturday. I need to tweek on the windscreen a bit, relay for turnsignals will be here and then run the power for the GPS. Its a plug and play for the GPS. I should have all that done during the week. I plan to head out in to the 'gray area' west of my house and run north and south doing some exploring on the DR. Hopefully we don't get much more rain and it stays dry enough to explore.

Any time you want to explore, I'm willing to try it.

Google maps, satellite view can help you. The places may not be 'legal,' but some have trails (homeless people trails?!).

I am planning to get out on Saturday. Looking at places to the west of 217 Ave. Like Mambo said, might not be legal, per se, ....... but there is an opening and no signs saying you can't!!

Area I am looking is mostly all hard pack kinda stuff, so don't expect to much mud or sand slinging. Just a nice ride in the 'glades.
