    What's up with Marty?

Seems that old buzzard is always busted up!
Almost always of his own doing too it seems. :D

Seems a margarita helps about anything ..............................

    Get well!

I'm recovering from a Shingles attack on cranial nerves, so various systems are all wonky. Vertigo, hearing, and vision aberrations are my main issues right now. Looking forward to a complete recovery over the next few weeks.

Anywhere is okay with me. Swallowing very chewy things can be a challenge, but I can manage.

    Mental note....get shingles vaccine asap.

That sounds terrible Marty. Hope you recover well and don't see anything like this again.

Jenny and I are out, we have other dinner plans.

Not Hogback - need something a bit closer to home for us right now.

Shack would be fine - if anyone is up for it. Mike? RD?

Nope - no margaritas right now - he's already got vertigo, double vision, and a headache so who needs booze :rofl
Besides, his meds don't like tequila very well

UPDATE - well, we're out for this week after all.
Sorry! It turns out Marty thought he was better than he turns out to be right now, so he's going to take it easy and try again another night.

Hope to see everyone in the future.

We can try for the Shack next week - hopefully Marty will have more energy then.

He started a new medication yesterday and I think it's made him a bit more groggy than expected.

Dang it Marty ............ I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope you're feeling much better now.

I went in to get my flu shot this last week. They mentioned the shingles vaccination as well as a pneumonia vaccination. I said I'm up for having all of them. But then they told me that they can't give these others within 2 weeks of me having the flu shot. So I'm still waiting.

Like Bad Wolf mentioned, your story sure will inspire me to remember to get that shingles shot. :D

RD, I find my self more and more relieved when my illness inspires others to take this seriously, so thank you for your feedback.

Been three weeks and severe vertigo, varying degrees deafness, occasional visual-tracking problems and double-vision are the main remaining impacts. One of the nerve-inflammation/pain meds has caused a well-known side effect of short attention span and quickness to near-anger testiness (the "nasties," as they call them). I've had to be very clear with Laurie that I'm not feeling anger or hostility at all when I snap at her, but that I can't seem to moderate my messages with as many words as I would otherwise prefer to do. She gets it and is being very understanding and has now put away the straight jacket and attitude-adjustment mallet.

Still might be a couple weeks for appreciable improvement in the vertigo recovery (or for the world to stop flipping over so much), so I'm still largely recliner-bound. Was at the grocery store yesterday, and I'm sure every shopper there thought I was drunk on my ass.

I thought testiness was called the testies.

    :hmmmmm

Either way, glad you are recovering. I knew shingles was painful, but never knew it could manifest this way. Thanks for sharing and making it real for the rest of us. Heal up so we can pour some margaritas down you to remove all doubt around the other shoppers.

We saw a few cases of that. Brother-in-law had an attack, and a few other people we knew. So I got the shot a couple years ago. Still need the Phenomena shot though.
Hope your doing better, that really sucks. I just got home last night, and should be around most of the week, so if you need something, let me know. I think you have my #, but just in case 303-nine0 three 6789

My wife has some vertigo issues from time to time. Some bouts more severe than others. She finds pretty good relief from something called the "Epley maneuver". Not sure it would help you or not, but certainly worth a try!

You can find You Tube videos and all kinds of other links about it on the web. Here is just one of them: https://www.webmd.com/brain/home-remedies-vertigo#1
    Good luck Marty. :thumb

Since he's still in the initial "acute" phase of this virus, he may need to wait until the nerves have healed/regenerated a bit more before tackling some of these maneuvers - but they look interesting to say the least :-)

Back on steady anti-viral and steroid meds as of Monday. Random flashing pains at the nerve plexus are apparently a sign of recovering nerves.

    So... yay?
