Finally put together a little loop around south Park County over Labor Day weekend. Didn't really plan, or look at any maps, or take a GPS along. Just kind of headed out on my own with basic knowledge of where major landmarks and small towns were in relation to where I wanted to go and pieced it all together. It was about 100 miles all told, with about ten miles of pavement. Heading out from my place south of Lake George at about 10:00am. 11 Mile reservoir in the distance. Heading off into an area of national forest that I think might get me where I want to go. Came across several of these gates. Followed to old rule of leaving them closed behind you if you find them closed, and leaving them open if you find them open. An old cabin along the way. Probably the most remote area I rode through on this trip. I just love spots like this. Headed down the western slope of the small mountain range I just passed through. Popped out on Hwy 9 and headed north to Hartsel for a snack. Headed back into the hills after 10-15 miles of dirt roads like this. Headed down the eastern side of LaSalle Pass and through the Tarryall recreation area. Back on the homestead after blasting down Tarryall road and through Lake George.
