Real Road Racing takes 3 more, doing what they loved best....... Racing on the final day of the 2013 Southern 100 was marred by the deaths of two competitors from the Isle of Man. The tragic accidents brought the total of competitors killed during the four-day meeting at the Billown circuit to three, each hailing from the island. On Thursday morning, 23-year-old Manxman Mark Madsen-Mygdal from Douglas died after a crash during the 600cc Supersport B race on the approach to Stadium Corner. Mr Mygdal is the son of experienced road racer Dave Madsen-Mygdal, who reached the landmark of 100 Isle of Man TT races last month. In the afternoon, Sidecar passenger Paul Thomas, from Ballasalla, was fatally injured after an incident at Osbornes on the back section of the circuit on the final lap of the Sidecar Championship race. The organisers cancelled the remaining two races as a result. Mr Thomas was married and had a daughter.
