I think you could still make it if you're very very careful. All the stringers seem to still be in place. They're at least as wide as a bike tire.

    Condolences on your loss.

Dang, if we would have known they were going to wash away you could have built a nice shed with that lumber. :-)

Yeh I remember that-------quite a few years ago.

There's an old plaque still on the bridge---------I'd really like to have it-------it's gonna just end up in the river before to long.
2 big ole' hot rivets holding it on. Don't know what the plaque is made of--------might be brass ???
    A piece of history.
There's another plaque way up high in the middle. Can't remember what it had on it.

South of Kankakee if you live in Chicago. South of interstate 64 if you have common sense.

I've always thought of Southern Illinois as being south of I-70...but then I've thought wrong a lot of times...

Thought I was going to have to delete all my posts on here for a bit :jack
But I'm guess I'm barely safe----I am one mile North of I 64 and I thought for a bit someone was going to draw a line there.

I've always lived in Mt. Vernon-------we moved to Chicago for just a bit when i was young-------with my accent they all called me "Hillbilly".

Everybody has been asking me where I'm going for the eclipse.
My answer has been "where everybody ain't".

But thinkin' the area of Raddle, Illinois---------population--------me, my wife------------and doggy.

    Don't tell nobody.
Bluff Top Overlook is where I really want to be---probably be 4,000 people up there.
The yellow line is the center of totality.

Ha, I was looking at fountain bluff also, but also concerned that after the ride up it would be packed with jonnycomelatelys.

Ima just planning on a ride thru Logan hollow and park on the levee, soak it in. Will be cool to hear the night creatures croaking when the lights go out

I'm thinking of Garden of the Gods. It's not as close to the center line of the eclipse path as I'd like, but it sure is a nice place to be. Figure there ought to be potential photos of people watching the eclipse. It would be interesting to see where the turkey vultures go when it gets dark. They're usually soaring that time of day.

Dixon Springs State Park looks to be dead center. Might be a nice place too.
