You've probably been there and marveled at it many times and didn't know what it was called. If you've been down route 3 North of Grand Tower you had to see it. It's the big bluff right beside route 3 on the West side---a road turns off right beside Fountain bluff and goes to Nunert---------home of the "Bottoms up Bar and Grill". There is a very narrow road leading up to the top of the bluff off route 3 called "Happy Hollow Road". Use to be a tower of some sort up there------------the remains are still there but hard to find-----the road is a dead end--------but on the way up you have some great views of the valley down below and the Mississippi River. You have to be really sharp to pick up the remains of the railroad bed down below the bluff---------the railroad went right thru Grand Tower---it is very hard to see where it went-----one road in Grand Tower is called "Railroad Road"--------I think ??? You can see the railroad in the picture---------I have some old gps mapping software that shows all that very old stuff still. Here's a picture of my Mapsource gps file of the area.
