Does anyone know if you need a D-7 card? If so, $10 gate fee, $40 race fee, $30 district card. Just seems kinda steep.

We'll see some places don't charge gate fee's for racers some do. I'm not sure if you'll need the D7 card on to of your ama card or not. The HS rules don't specifically call it out the way the enduro and MX rules do.

I was kind of surprised I haven't heard anything back from the Mdcomprider group. When I registered online, I got a message stating I would receive more information before the event...

I've also tried emailing them a couple times and every email I've sent gets returned as undeliverable :dunno

Hopefully, the Mrs will be coming up early for Cheyenne's Mini race, then taking the girls home sometime after so they aren't out in the cold...and she gets to try out her new camera :evil

    ALCON,

    1. There is a gate fee at this race ($10). I have not been to a race in years that didn't have a gate fee. Its how the land owner gets their cut. The entry fee is for the Club/AMA/Trophies/Admin.

    2. You don't need to be D7 at any race if you're not running for year end points

    3. You must be AMA for all D7 and ECEA races

    4. Go for Class first then age when you register - (i.e., start with skill level then age...and note that some old guys are VERY fast and some young guys are VERY crazy). Some races have a Sportsman class that are fast but not in it for points - points are what makes the racers go crazy fast.

    5. The MdComp guys are notorious for not replying. From what I've been told, they do that registration because Wicomico can't have more than 200 riders - but it isnt likely they will get 200 riders per race - so the registration isn't used.

    6. You dont need any numbers on your bike - you will get a sticker for the left side of your helmet that teh gate will use to score you as you pass through. You will go through Tech Inspection prior to the race and tehy will tell you if you need to tape over your numbers or not. Most races are using transponders so they don't care what you have but this is a small race and they may ask you to tape over your numbers.

I decided it would be prudent to read the AMA rulebook. Of the paltry 212 pages, only about 42 apply to hare scrambles. I was most forlorn to read you must complete 50% the number of laps of the "division winner" to be considered a "finisher". Ergo, my previous plan of a victory gallop lap or two might be remiss :rofl

As the current 3rd place Eagle Bay women's Blind Enduro finisher, I feel this is a tall order to complete!

"Finisher" status only matters if you're after year end points. What really counts is getting out there, being with fellow racers and putting forth your very best effort. You'll find people standing along the side lines cheering you on!

What an unexpected surprise. While the vendors were much fewer this year, there were more interesting vendors such as BMW, NoMar, and KLIM. The crowds were very manageable, and it was an enjoyable evening.

    A reunion of sorts:

BMW offer a sweet 30% off coupon for parts and accessories, and a raffle for a 3-Day moto course at their South Carolina Performance center.

Thought this guy was interesting..notice the Ducati shirt sitting atop the new HP4

    Blaster's get for this evening:

We all had a happy ending-sushi. Some of us had more than others of us. And others of us still can't seem to get 3 checks with 4 people. :D

    This was dessert...MMMM

If anyone intends on updating the maps in their Garmin GPS at any time, there is a great price on amazon for a gift card for lifetime map updates. It is only $4 more than a one-time map update if bought from the Garmin website, and it is about $35 cheaper than buying lifetime updates from the Garmin website. The concept of lifetime updates seems like a waste since GPSs don't last anywhere near a lifetime (obsolescence or wear and tear will eventually come into play), but you only have to update the maps twice to make this gift card well worth it.

Once you buy the card, go to your Dashboard at My Garmin and you can link the gift card to your GPS, and presto, you can update your maps up to four times a year.

Not going to make the Harescramble tomorrow. Seems after running a Motor Vehicle Accident call with the Rescue Squad I have irritated an old shoulder injury. Pretty darn sore. I can't take the chance of making it worse and mess up my Alaska trip. I may stop by for moral support!

Two rookie (EB) questions for you guys—do you park in the grass field between the tower and the main street, or do you actually park right up by the tower? And if I were at the tower and crossed the street to ride the short loop, which way is traffic flowing nowadays? Go to right? :)

Being new, I just want to ensure I am doing the right thing and flying straight, now that ground control has cleared me for takeoff. :clap

Try to park as close to the water tower as possible. Mantra seems to be out of sight, out of mind (and keeps the homeowners happy)

Direction of travel is clockwise. As you come down from the tower, cross the street, then left onto the trail (same direction as the fall trail ride)

We had a great time and really enjoyed seeing you all.

Ummm, while Karen and I are inseparable we do still have two houses. Anyway, we are looking forward to riding more this season. The coolest part of the show to me was that Karen liked the pillion seat of the new Multistrada best of the bikes that we tried. Vroom Vroom :D

So when and where is the Balmo RTE next week? We have some catching up to do!
