Check out the AWESOME hat Philygal got me...
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dave-O!!!!!
Lookin good EOD3MC
It's a great day for a Birthday. My boy turns 16 today. Happy Birthday Dave.
Something tells me Ryan won't take a TTRU gift trade for his sweet 16 gift?
congrats to you and the girl(s). That's good stuff.
Matt and I camped at Blooch's this weekend. Ended up riding with Kevin, Mark (VBDiver) and Lance (WesMantooth). Long Run, Rough Run, the shooting range road and then Dunkle Hollow. I was thrilled to finally get the xC out where she could outshine my old GS. World's difference. I just cruised up Dunkle Hollow on that thing.
Only one minor mishap (and I think there just might be video to prove it). Matt came to his senses on on the shooting range road, but Mark and I didn't. We were flying into the tight switchbacks, me riding his ass hard (not like that you sickos... that was later), locking up the rear and trying to get the front around in time to make the turn. Rinse, repeat. So we come in especially hot to this blind hairpin and Mark locks up his rear and starts to skid. I lock up mine, and my rear tire decides that it's time to play catchup to the front tire. Needless to say, Mark went down and I went down sliding by him, giggling like a little girl (or so the video suggests). I've got to figure out how to control the xC when I lock up the rear. I'll say this for the GS, she tracked straight and true when the rear was locked. Perhaps more front brake would have kept me better under control.
Afterword we went to Jack Browns for peanut butter covered burgers and college girls... what could be better?
Happy Birthday Dave
I've always been told to never try to follow the kids. Just do.not. as an adult. You don't have the agility, speed, nor endurance to keep up. Great win for them though
I think it takes me longer to ride the lap once than all 3 times you did it. I don't keep exact time but I pack a lunch and some snack for my 2+ hr journey.
Happy birthday Dave!
It was good riding with you again and seeing what the girls can do with those bikes...they've definitely got talent. Good to see Motocox too - didn't get to ride with you, but there's no way I could've kept up anyway since it took me about an hour to get around that big loop.
Bruce and Dana - thanks for reminding me about this ride, it's definitely a nice place. I'd definitely join if I knew I'd go down there enough to justify it.
And to everyone else - hey! Hope you're doing well.
I'm feeling pretty good at this point and am really looking forward to it.
The only thing I'm not happy about is some weird issues with my Zumo 665. The last software update seemed to have wreaked havoc with the Bluetooth. It is also having problems recognizing the XM antenna. It will play music for a short period, then intermittently cuts out while it "Downloads channel lineup", and then it will just stop playing with the message "Check XM Antenna".
So is any time frame better than another for me to send the wheel and new tire to your place?
Dave....sounds like everybody had a great time and brought home some nice prizes as well, congratulations!!!!
Badguy....we try to get down there about once a month so it pays for itself rather quickly, glad you went and had a good time! Great place to ride.
Erik....Check the connector on the antenna where it attaches to the base, mine used to do the same thing until I took a small bumper, which takes up the free space, and stuck it to it. Basically the GPS now pushes the connector in tight so it can't jiggle loose. Lets talk, but short answer is not until I get back from the TWVT.
I like the hat!
I'm not sure I can picture what you are suggesting. If I remember correctly, you have a Zumo 550?
My antenna has a cable ending in a mini-USB connection. I plug that into a wire that is part of the 665 motorcycle mount cable bundle, so it does not plug directly into the GPS. Just to be sure, it sounds like you are suggesting I focus on stabilizing the mini-USB connection point?

We need you. Again this year my company is leading a Bridge Ride for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. It's a motorcycle tour through the countryside around Fredericksburg VA, designed to go over or under as many bridges as possible. The $$ come from the riders either donating or collecting pledges for each bridge we cross. The only rule is every rider has to generate some kind of donation (last year we did 60 bridges and raised over $2,500). Other than that, it's open to anyone - employees, friends, customers, passengers, any bike, anybody who can safely handle an intermediate-level ride of 4 to 5 hours, including several butt breaks. We'll stay off major highways and aim for twisty country roads; relaxed pace, but RAIN OR SHINE, we still go. ALL proceeds go to our Company Relay for Life team.
The 2013 Bridge Ride is the afternoon of Thursday 9 May, so now is the time to sign up to ride, to pledge, or to donate. I'll update the list of riders as it builds so you know who to pledge, or you can reply to this message with your pledge or donation. Again , we need you to make this even better than last year! Thanks for making a difference
Please PM me with your Name and email so we can pass you more info.
Anyone know the GS rider killed on I-95 this AM?
Added to calendar!
Gee whiz, why so anti-hack? If I didn't have to work that day I'd crash your fund raiser on 3 wheels!
