As I was riding along today I found myself on a nice little road and had an epiphany. All these TOR games are great, but they all have one thing in common. You're always searching for this "place" "landmark" "thing". Really though, sometimes the best riding is when you're just out and stumble upon a great road, dirt or paved.

Soooo, with that in mind, this new Tag O Rama game has some new rules. Coordinates. Yep. Latitude/Longitude. If you find yourself on a great twisty piece of asphalt and want to share the road, this would be a good opportunity. Dirt? Water crossings? Sure! No problem, just do your fellow inmates a favor and let them know that their RT will need to climb over some rocks to get to the new tag.

So, I guess there aren't "rules", but a rule.
-It seems that anyone that would want to partake in this game would need a GPS. That GPS should have a screen on it somewhere that lists the coordinates of the new tag. You need to post a picture of the tag and a picture of your bike with something, anything you like! A sign. A burned out car. Dead animal in the road. Lake. Whatever.

So, I'm calling it Southern New England. What does that mean? How about an area like this
    [IMG]

First tag to get things going. It's not the greatest road around, but it was twisty in some spots, and I had never been on it. Isn't that the point?

    sounds like fun!

I was thinking of starting a similar game/thread this year that wasn't just landmarks but focused on dirt roads/trails/fun rural roads, was big bike capable (*minimal skill and knobbies may be required*), used coordinates and/or photos to find the "tag", but the tag would be sort of a geo-cache thing where you have to stop and hunt down a little container at the location.. Sort of like the duc-o-rama thread based out of NY

Instead of a rubber duck I was just going to have a small to mid-size watertight container that I'd start off with a number of items, assorted moto-related stickers, an old BMW keychain, a "throttle rocker", etc.. Nothing fancy, just universal moto-stuff I have laying around.. Whoever finds the tag/cache can move it or leave it where it is but they can also take something from the cache as long as they put in something new.. I'd also probably throw in a pen and a notepad so people could sign in and leave any notes to whomever finds it after them.. perhaps a suggested route to take from the tag/cache location...

Any interest in combining ideas? Totally at your discretion of course.. I could just start yet another thread but I don't want their to be toooo many southern new england tag-type threads or eventually we'll have 100 similar threads with titles like, "South Western Worcester County Off Road Tag-o-Rama" where in each of the 100 various threads there are around four participants..

I may grab your tag tomorrow or friday unless LIlolita scoots out there first!

    Go get it!

I think your idea sounds awesome. My only small issue would be that my thinking on this is just to get someone way off the beaten track. Coming up with a trinket for the cache makes that a little more difficult. You have to plan a little more, but hey I'm open to anything.

I guess I was looking for something that is like a TOR, but more of an anything goes type of thing. So, with that in mind, sure, lets do it. Leave something at the tag tomorrow. Maybe, it'll end up just the two of us back and forth. I'll promise a tag in my basement brewpub if that happens:freaky:freaky:freaky

I have a couple of spare tractor tool tubes laying around.. like the one on my GSA... is that too big for a container? Somebody needs to tell me how to plug lat/long into my Garmin... so far it just tells me how to get to Dunkin Donuts.

This could still be done w/o a GPS using google maps if you are really dedicated..

Good ideas Jim & Al. I have done the NY duck tag and some others that involve mascots, etc. A lot of fun.
I hope this catches on in the next few weeks.

    No...not at all!

I would already have it moved to a dirt spot near me if it wasn't over an hour away :deal

New tag before dark...but when a dirt bike guy from the cape has to ride his dirt bike 100+ miles of pavement, he's probably placing the new tag in the dirt someplace :deal

OK...here's the new tag. My location is the blue arrow, not the waypoint.

There is sand...there are whoops...there is obviously this water if you continue forward...it is a Chapter IV legal through way...it is doable on multi-cylinder ADV bikes...Yes, I rode through (I usually paddle one leg on the bank, and idle it through nice and slow like)...

Did you go thru the water this time.....................Wish I had time to go get it seeing that my Irish Flu has cleared up :rofl

But I'm into this game as long as it stays more "dirt oriented"

I know too! I would play but with no GPS, no camera and no phone I'm not ready for these high tech games.

Yes! This is gonna get good!

Thanks for taking one for the team(100 miles on pavement. I did 250 up the NJ turnpike and back from NYC. Doesn't get any worse than that, but the beer sure is good right now:)
