Had a flyer put under my windshield while at Leaf River for this. Has anyone been on it? Is it any good?

Romatsu, were you able to attend? I went to the one near Madison last fall and thought it was a blast. There are so few opportunities for off-roading in the southern part of the state so I think this is a great chance to ride without driving hundreds of miles north. Looking forward to your report.

Yep, I did make it. Had a great time.

This ride is open to all, meaning ATV (guess about 40 of them), UTV (1), and bikes (bout 20)
    No tags or plates required.

This is for the Hill Point outing, don't know how the Cross Plains is.
The terrain was great. All 2-track of course.
Pleny of twistys through the woods, nothing to technical (like Leaf River or Crawford Hills) but nice stuff.
    Couple of creek crossings.
Some stuff along the edges of fields. Mostly to connect to better stuff, but at times it was just a mowed path winding through a grass field.
Some asphalt connectors but very little.
All in all I thought is was quite good in that you could control the challenge to yourself by the speed you went.

The ride is "guided", meaning you go out in groups and are led. It is arrowed and flaged fairly well.
There were 5 groups broke down by how fast you wanted to go.
You can bump up or down groups depending on how you feel.

The total route was about 17 or 18 miles.
The group I was in did 1 1/2 laps, broke for a great lunch put on by the local 4-H, then did one more lap.
I think we road from about 10am to 3pm? including lunch.

It's obvious that Dan and his group put some serious work into this and for a simple Saturday ride I thought it quite good. I will be going again.

This sounds interesting. Where exactly in WI was this held? I live in Northern IL and am interested in attending something like this but I don't want to ride more than 3 hours to get there on my bike.

According to the flyer, that's 50 miles northwest of Madison. There are also a couple in the fall right outside Madison.

I was not able to go to the first one this year but I'm going to make a couple of them in the fall. went last year and had a ball, not the most technical rideing but it was fun and I think the more we can ride with other groups, be it ATV's or off road trucks it opens doors to new oppertunities.

There is another guided ride coming up right ourside Madison Saturday. I'm trying to talk my son into going with me. That's why I bought a 2nd atv sonny... so we can do stuff together.

Anyone else thinking of attending? There is a group for dirt bikes, I've only done it on my atv but it looks like it woudl be a blast on a cycle.

My son and I went on the Oct. 20th ride and had a great time. We did one lap before lunch (which was about 20 miles) before lunch. The lunch was put on by the local 4H club and they made everyone feel at home. Then we did another 20 mile loop at a faster pace after lunch. We will be going this weekend, maybe the last one of the year.

Well, it looks like I've been peer pressured into doing this ride.
We should have a group of 5 or 6 fast guys, so it should be a good time.:clap

Quite a turnout considering there were snowflakes in the air this morning.

I met a fellow Advrider who let me use his air compressor. Sorry, I didn't get your name, and thanks for the air. DR Zed, I didn't see you or I would have said hi. I suspect there were a few other inmates there, lots of bikes.

And very interesting reading material in the restroom.

Hey Dave that was me with the compressor and your welcome. Sorry I missed you at lunch but my son was in a hurry to go out and do another lap. I think I'm hooked on this Dual Sport riding too bad it's already November and like you said already snowing. I would also like to thank Dan for setting up these 4 rides every year,I can only imagine how much work goes into this and he can count us in for next year. Cheers, Terry

Had a good time riding today. Nothing too technical, some nice two track, alot of WFO cornfeild riding. Some optional hero sections would be a nice addition, and Dan said that could be a possibility .

There were a couple of places where if you were going fast enough in those rolling fields, you'd catch some air. That's fun. I think Dan cut out the really knarly section this ride. If you liked this, you'll love the Hill Point ride.

I'm very happy that my son asked "When's the next one".

It was fun, and a little chilly at first but turned into a nice day. Thanks Dan for all the effort you put into growing this sport and entertaining us the first loop. I agree with Zed a couple hero sections or a few miles of single track would really make a bunch of us happy but I realize its a lot of extra work. I will try to make a ride or two next season.:clap

Hey Guys - just joined the forum thanks to a recommendation from Jake (KTM 450) in group one of the SW WI guided ride on Nov. 3 2012. Had a great time on this ride and hope to see everybody out there again the next chance we get. Wanted to thank the fellow KTM guy with the glasses (didn't get your name) for the help on the first big technical uphill on loop two when I launched into the trees. (Group one got a hero tour with Dan for that one). - Duane
