It gets fast a few more miles in.
And a lot of good riding in 2013 to all !
Williams, AZ weather
Feels like -14°F
It's colder in Williams, AZ right now than it is in Anchorage Alaska.
Yeah, but it's a DRY cold!
Who were all you wankers I saw today at Taste Freeze, and why the hell would you decide that was a good place to eat?
It has been a tradition that no matter what I ride on New Years day, no matter what the weather, snow, ice, rain, or wind it just has to be done. Ever year I have done this it has been a good year for me and for ridding, ever year that I didn't ride New Years day have been a total disasters.
To make 2013 a good year, I geared up, saddled up, & set out at 23.4 degrees this morning, needless to say it was quite brisk and rather short ( about 15 mils) but it had warmed to a comfortable 28.6 degrees upon return.
So there, I've done it & its going to be a great year
Happy New Year to all SWDSR , and riders everywhere.
I agree, traitions are to be up-held. Geared up did about 25 miles. Froze my butt off. I feared the worst if I did not. I feel good about the up coming year.
Well, I kept with tradition then. About 110 miles today, great ride .
it's too cold to ride. fuck that shit.
I didn't move down to AZ to ride in this filth!
I went to a movie with my family.
I went on ride today to test my endurance having tendonidis in my right thump (throttle hand) i rode ~105 miles mixed terrains including snow/ice . Da morning was freezing but ig got better around 11am. I went on a exploration ride around 7 springs area. Steep hills and what nor.
Steep here and up again the other side ...
then really steep downhill like roller coster steep. (Pix deosn't do justice really).
more pix later...
Good show Eddy, Did you get the kinks out of that thumb?
Still feel some soreness maybe cuz it was to damn cold ...
Man... I hear what your say'n...
Took a li'l ride on Sunday and once it started sleeting & snowing I loaded-up and spent the rest of the day by the fire!
We know there are warmer day's a-comm'n!
Hey Phoenix, greetings from the southern border (yea, I don't post much). Friend and I are heading up from south of Tucson to Death Valley in a couple of weeks, I heard that Brown's Crossing at the end of Alamo Rd upstream from the lake is dry and "people" have been driving across there and continuing north. Of course no one could give a report on the road conditions. We have very capable mid-size bikes (X-Challenge and KTM 690), so of course we are planning to ride the big GS's instead; anyone been thru there in the last few weeks and know if that's doable? We're pretty experienced riders, but don't like trying to single track and hill climb on the pigs. (I know, take the 650) Thanks for reading and any help you may be able to provide.
Is this the route for stage II to the Grand Canyon next to your GPS? Man, we need to make sure that ride gets complete this year. Maybe an overnight in Williams?
U got it. That's the rd-book from the last ride from Williams to Z Grand Canyon (via Espee rd i call it the Alien Land cuz it's big, empty and spooky) & from Tusyan to Parks via crazy awsome trails in that forest SE of Tusayn. For the Grand Canyon Ride 2013 it's a 2 days must do.
It's all ready to go i just have to connect the Stages together with good exit points or chase truck for that matter (if someone volonteer for that task it would be great)...
It's good to see your able to get out and ride at least once in a while. Looks like some neat country you found out there.
Thanks Tom next time i will drag u with me (probably in 2 Sunday's). Vulture mine Rd is one on my next to ride list...Hopefully Bigbugberg will join in, he's the master out there. He guided me through interesting trails.
Let me know if you need any help with logistics and such.
